Post subject:  New HMP References/Sources Page

A recent post in the modeling forum looking for sources of cardboard/paper buildings/terrain made me think of something I'd like to try: A References Page. Not a /Links/ page, which I already have (and normally points to other CBT sites), but a page with links to many of the references we all look for, and don't know where to find.

Since it would be a normal HTML page, it could be easily organized by type of information. And people could/should send me links to post, which I'd do.

Oh - and while CBT stuff is fine, it doesn't all have to be CBT stuff, as we are all interested in some (remotely)related stuff as well. Basically, people can post here any and all links that you think should be on such a page (or email me at rick@heavymetalpro.com), and I will make up the web page.

Subjects I'd like to see links for might include:

Space Information - 3D star maps, neat screenshots from space, spaceships.

Spacecraft - That neat site that has sizes of various ships, including I think some CBT ships.

Paper Cutouts - Buildings, 'Mechs,

Military Equipment - Tanks, artillery, bombs, ammo.

Map Supplies - Tools & supplies for making maps.

Miniatures - Useful info on assembling and painting minis.

Graphics - Interesting graphics sites, CBT-related or not, but mostly at least sci-fi, gaming or outer space related - basically stuff we can use.

CBT-Related Specific Info - Like faction lists, BV/Cost/equipment lists, "quirk" lists, etc.

Many other subjects which would be of general interest to people frequenting the forums or my web site.

So, is there any kind of vetting process, or is it OK if we start running stuff up the flagpole to check for salutes?

As I said above, please feel free to posts your links here (along with a brief description of what information is there), or email the information to me. I'll start compiling it, dividing it into categories, and when I have sufficient information and time, I'll make up the web page, and post information about here and elsewhere.

If anyone has multiple pieces of information, just post it something like:

Good cutout building information is here:

www.yoururlgoeshere2.com
www.anotherurl2.com

(Would you believe I had to add the "2" to both of those to keep them from showing "real" urls! )

Good info on military ammo:

It doesn't matter who signs the check. If "The Blue Book says you got to go out. It doesn't say a damn thing about coming back" doesn't count as service, I don't know what does.

Besides, the USCG now works for the Department of Homeland Security.

Here is another site, which I have posted before, Rick liked it last time...too bad we can't use the map style for BT...

Enjoy:

Also here are a couple more:

http://www.aliens111.com/

This one is for ideas and such, mostly to allow folks to get back ground ideas or plot lines or a good laugh or three...:D

Here is one on BSG, it does give a lot of background and is a good starting point for those looking for new ideas and such for BT or an alternate future or just something different:

Here is one that cover space stations, it is an interesting look at things:

http://vesuvius.jsc.nasa.gov/er/seh/sstation.html

Here is another that gives some more spaceship pictures and artwork:

http://www.lucock.u-net.com/

Here is another background setting idea site, it's an interesting read and one that leaves you wondering about somethings as well as laughing:

Okay and what can I say? Yahoo shot themselves in the foot on that move. Guess I will have to Google for a new site that had the old info.
