Okay I was doing some recent reading and the book happen to be the Mirror Universe Triology books of Star Trek and it got me to thinking, could something similar be done for Battletech?

So I thought I would ask around here and see what you guys thought of this.

We could take this from the rise of the Terran Hegemony to the Star League up to current events as starting points. But I am interested in seeing what happens with this.

I've seen some ST mirror universe episodes (TOS and DS9) and I hate damn things

Actually, we would have crazy things like Max Liao and the Kuritas commanding benevolent democracies fighting the evil fascist Imperial Suns and Steiner's Fist. ;-)

Or maybe we would have fascist Inner-Spheroids invading the democratic and peaceful Clans.

Or crazy stuff like that. :-)

Okay I know that the topic isn't the most logical one and there fore it's open season on it, but still let's try to come up with something...anything?

And try picturing Victor with the beard...:D

What about going back to Amaris, instead of the Coup failing it Succeeds, and take it from there, or instead of Kerensky leaving he takes over, and Amaris is forced to leave.and see where that would lead us???

Great that is a good place to start...any one of those work...but remember it's suppose to mirror things, not rewrite things in that totally new outcomes happen, same events take place for different reasons...or what ever works I guess.

Wasn't suggesting rewriting history just looking at things from the perspective of the Idea behind ST's Mirror, mirror. In the ST version everything was essentially opposite of what it was. So the Federation was a group of Cutthroats. In Battletech Amaris becomes the Hero and Kernesky the villian at its simplest forms. So looking at it from that perspective .....

We can run with that part, but who wins at this point?

On one hand we have Kerensky as winning causing Amaris to flee or exiled depending onhow you look at it. Kerensjy being a Military type person is likely to do some, or all of the following;
Strengthen his position through military force,
Eliminate an or all potential enemies of the state
Keep his allies close and his enemies closer, this would cause the successor states to be less powerful and more treacherous perhaps. After all if they are vying against each other than they are perhaps easier to control from Kerenskies point of view.

Amaris if he is exiled or escapes execution is going to try and find a way to take back what was his.

Perhaps by;

Leaving for a distant area of space to build up forces and come back to beat the Crap ot of everyone, ( long haul picture been done before see clans)

Try to blend in and work from the inside and cause rebellion

Goto the periphery and try to come back at a later time.

Perhaps escape to one of the Successor States.

But that is just one of the thoughts for the night

Interesting and if he does any of these he could cause the downfall of the empire or what every Kerensky would build since Amairs would all ways be a threat.

I like the idea, a lot could be done with reversal of roles.

And never forget to change a few things.

Daddy Calderon (who died in a mining accident) had EVIL EVIL plans.

Sonny Calderon learned those plans and was planning on following them.

Amaris learned the plans and selflessly threw himself in their way, killing both of them, and then taking the one thing he never wanted.

The Star League throne. After all, SOMEBODY had to hold it. He just really wished it was someone else. But it took it reluctantly and tried to lead the Star League into a better and brighter future.

;-)

Don't you mean Cameron?

Picture a Star League that was at war with the other Houses...

Yes...I meant Cameron. :-(

And yes...that would be cool I think.

The Terran Hegemony was looking to conquer the other members of the Star League and Amaris was the only one who had the big brass cohones to DO something about it.

And then Kerensky with a "look at me I'm a bad guy" goatee goes to wipe him out.

Say the Houses actually SIDED with Amaris and tried to fight off the Star League (more like Terran Hegemony) Army but Kerensky pulled out the nukes and flattened anybody that stood against them.

End result, devastation equal to that caused by the First and Second Succession Wars. The Houses get most of their naval forces and armies and such blown away, and their industries are smashed by strategic "industrial denial teams" sent by Kerensky. The main SLDF hits the Terran Hegemony under Amaris' control and the Hegemony defense grids bleed them white until they hit Terra.

On Terra, the remains of the SLDF die along with Kerensky and Amaris, leaving the Star League leaderless. The Houses form ComStar, then each claim to lead the tainted Star League, and go off to conquer each other in a round of Succession Wars minus the first and third and just being third-like in style until the rise of Hanse Davion and such.

Since the SLDF died, no Clans. :-)

Interesting out come...I think a lot could be done with this and have some interesting crossover moments, like speulations done via a group of scholars or something like that.
