Time to call/vote on this contest and order up a new one? :D
Definitely. ;-)

I requested when this contest was first put up for several users to be the judges, and then I'd make the designs available on the web site after the winner was announced. To be honest, I don't remember who was going to do it, but I'm afraid I can't devote the time to properly judge these while doing the other stuff I need to. For that, I appologize.

Hi, just wondering, is it allowed to use some level 2 electrical equipment like ecm or beagles, as i recall there are 2750 designs using them

Cripes, I have a mech gathering dust that would be perfect for this... :)

Maybe we should just make this a Poll and have the members vote to close out this contest.

Targeting & Tracking System: (Unknown)

------------------------------------------------------------------------------
==Overview:==
The BDT-1A Bandit was clandestinely designed and produced in the years leading
up to the Periphery Uprising by the Taurian Concordant. Designed as a heavy
scout to compete with the venerable Stinger and Wasp, the Bandit was 50%
heavier in tonnnage, but just as fast and maneuverable, while carrying over
twice the armor and weapons. During the Uprising, the Bandit formed the
backbone of the volunteer units that were raised to aid the insurgents on New
Vandenberg and fourteen other Taurian worlds. Following withdrawal of the SLDF
from the Concordat to fight the Amaris, Protector Calderon integrated the
remaining "seperatist" forces into the TDF. Ever since, the Bandit has played
an important role in defending the Concordat.

==Capabilities:==
The 30-ton Bandit is capable of attaining speeds of 97.2 kilometers per hour
and executing a 180-meter jump. Carrying 6.5 tons of ArmorWorks Carbide Light
Composite armor, the Bandit is extremely well-protected for a 'Mech of its
weight class. Arnament consists of an Aurora Missiliers Foxglove SRM-4, a
Martin-Gordan Rapier medium laser, a Martin-Gordan Stiletto small laser, and a
Hyades Weapon Consortium Reaper machine gun. The Bandit is a very simple--but
exceptionally rugged--design, as are most Taurian 'Mechs. Few of the high-tech
features routinely found on Inner Sphere units are available on the Bandit.
The Taurian engineers who designed and built the machine concentrated on the
basics, resulting a durable design that has one of the lowest maintenance
requirements of any 'Mech in service today. TDF MechWarriors praise the simple
and durable systems as the single greatest design feature of the 'Mech.

==Battle History:==
In active use by the Taurian Defense Forces for over 250 years, the Bandit has
served in virtually every conflict since the Periphery Uprising.

==Variants:==
The standard BDT-1A accounts for 50% of all Bandits in service with the TDF.
Three other variants were also produced at Jamestown until the facility there
was wrecked. The -1B and -2B models replace the Hyades Weapons Consortium
Reaper machine gun and its ammunition with a Jamestown Incendiaries Flamelord
flamer. The -2A and -2B models replace the Aurora Missiliers Foxglove SRM-4
and its ammunition with an Aurora Missiliers Privet LRM-5 and a ton of
ammunition. The -2A model is the second most common, representing about 30% of
the known surviving units, while the -1B and -2B models account for roughtly
10% each.

==Notable 'Mechs & MechWarriors:==
MechWarrior Sergeant Major Henry 'Hotshot' Harrison was one of the few
survivors of the Taurian Guard Corps at 2nd Diefenbaker. Piloting his BDT-1A
Bandit 'Lonely Heart', he eluded the Star League forces for ever eight months,
operating in a guerilla insurgency against the occupation. When he was finally
cornered by a full company of the 14th Striker, he destroyed three Star League
'Mechs before his 'Mech was rendered immobile. Taken prisioner, Sergeant
Harrison spent the remainder of the war in an SLDF POW camp before returning
to Jamestown to write his memoirs of the war.

==Deployment==
After the fall of the League and the departure of the SLDF, TTI began openly
producing the Bandit. It has ever since formed a core part of the light 'Mech
units of the Taurian Defense Forces. Unfortunately for the Concordat, an
industrial accident in 2850 destroyed over 90% of the Jamestown facility of
TTI where the Bandit was produced. Though other TTI facilities retain the
design plans, none are dedicated to producing this 'Mech design. Occassionly,
TTI on Taurus will retool their facility for a limited production run, but
this has not been done since 30 were produced there in 3000. Recently, TTI has
made a proposal to the Taurian government about rebuilding the ruined facility
on Jamestown. Protector Thomas Calderon is expected to make a decision about
whether or not to rebuild the facility in the near future.

I tried to upload my HMP files, but I don't think they did (have gotten Heavy Metal Plus since I last first posted my design). I go to the file upload page (right?), browse and click the HMP file (right?), enter the 'Mechs name, my screen-name, and ok, it should be loaded (right?).

Maybe it did, and I just didn't see it.

I've looked at your post - nice design BTW - no files there, I thought we as part of the contest were to post only 2 variants

I've never done this before, so hopefully I do this correctly. I've been involved with the Battletech universe since I got my first computer in 1996 and it came with MechWarrior 2. Prior to recieving the HeavyMetal software for my birthday last month, I designed some 500 custom 'Mechs and variants by hand. So, this is quite easier on my hand (and brain, and calculator).

The ST2Z-B Botfly:
Code:
    BattleMech Technical Readout

Type/Model: Botfly ST2Z-B
Tech: Inner Sphere / 2750
Config: Biped BattleMech
Rules: Level 2, Custom design

Mass: 20 tons
Chassis: Chariot Type II Endo Steel
Power Plant: 140 Hermes Fusion
Walking Speed: 75.6 km/h
Maximum Speed: 118.8 km/h
Jump Jets: 7 Chevron I Standard Jump Jets
Jump Capacity: 210 meters
Armor Type: Chevron I Standard
Armament:
  1 Coventry Volcano Flamer
1 Diverse Optics Type 2 Medium Laser
Manufacturer: Bowie Industries
  Location: Carlisle
Communications System: Neil 500+
Targeting & Tracking System: Digital Scanlok 347

------------------------------------------------------------------------------
==Overview:==
Originally named the Stargazer, the name was changed (but not the
designation) to be more in fitting with the traditional light scout 'Mech
names of the time. The original design, the ST2Z-A, was first produced in
2515 for the Lyran Commonwealth Armed Forces. Unimpressed by it (and content
with the variety of other light BattleMechs at their disposal), the Botfly
sold only marginally well.
However, when the Lyran Commonwealth signed the Treaty of Geneva in 2558
(being the third Great House to do so, and laying the foundation for the Star
League), the Commonwealth quickly acquired Endo Steel technology from the
Terran Hegemony. Taking a cue from the THE-N Thorn (and using the same
Chariot Type II Endo Steel chasis), the designers at Bowie were able to
lighten the Botfly by a ton, leading to the ST2Z-B production model, with an
additional half ton of armor and thirty more meters of jump capacity over the
-A model. This model was produced in half a dozen of Bowie Industries'
factories (with a large share produced in the main factory on Carlisle), and
licensed out to factories all over the future Star League member states,
competing, and working, successfully with other light scout 'Mechs such as the
Locust and Wasp.

==Capabilities:==
The designers at Bowie thought to themselves, "What if we combined the
land speed and anti-infantry capabilities of the Locust with the jump capacity
and armor of the Wasp and Stinger?" While not quite as fast as the Locust on
the ground, it certainly matches the others in manuveribility and makes itself
as much a threat to infantry as to other light 'Mechs. The original Botfly's
only flaw was that it was introduced too late; by the time Bowie was geared up
for production, the LCAF already had a well-maintained array of Wasps and
Stingers.
What the designers at Bowie acquired before Bergan, Earthwerks, and
General Mechanics, however, was Endo Steel. Quick to modify the design to accept
the new chasis, the Bodfly went from being a run-of-the-mill scout 'Mech to
having then-uprecedented (and even now, hard-to-match) jump capacity, as well
as more armor than the Wasp, Stinger, or any variant (other than the primary)
of the Locust. Furthermore, even with the advanced internal structure, the
ST2Z-B costs little more (around 100,000 C-Bills) than its contemporaries.
These qualities made the BattleMech extremely popular throughout the Star
League, and later, the Succession Wars.
The Succession Wars, while hard on many BattleMechs (and sending many
into extinction), were not as hard on the Botfly. While production of this
version would cease in 2805 due to lack of materiel and not be reintroduced
until the late 3040s (along with two other versions), the original version was
seemingly custom-made for the Succession Wars' destruction, and the Botfly,
unlike many other First Star League-era designs, would fight on for centuries
almost unchanged.

==Deployment:==
Deployed in scout, light cavalry, raiding, garrison and training units,
Botflies can be found almost anywhere. Produced on half a dozen worlds by
Bowie, and almost a dozen more under license, the 'Mech is common enough that
a child would recognize it. The Botfly is so common, in fact, that like the
later designed Ostsol, its contributions to a battle are often subtle and
inconspicuous, and there are few good stories about a Botfly's individual
contribution to a battle.
One of those few good stories took place in the Taurian Concordat. In
2720, a lance of ST2Z-B models, along with two lances of surplus -A models,
fought off a band of unidentified pirates (probably from the Haven Star
Cluster) on the world of Althea's Choice. The pirates, attacking with a
motley assortment of Griffins and Shadow Hawks backed by Stingers, apparently
thought they had the advantage of manuverability. They were wrong.
Using terrain to their advantage, the Botflies were able to jump
distances and into places that could not be matched by the pirate 'Mechs.
Attacking the heavier 'Mechs in their weaker rear armor, and using high-speed
passes against the Stingers, the Taurian forces were able to drive off the
pirates even before Star League units could arrive to assist. The battle cost
the pirates two Wolverines and three Stingers at the cost of three -A model
Botflies.

==Variants:==
The original model of the Botfly, the ST2Z-A, used the Chariot Type I
standard chasis. It had a jump capacity of 180 meters instead of 210, and had
half a ton less armor (thinner on the arms, as well as the front left/right
torsos and the legs). When remanufactured during the Succession Wars, it also
substituted the cheaper (and slightly less accurate) Diverse Optics Type 18
medium laser for the Type 2.
In the late 3040s, the -B model once again began to be manufactured, as
well as a new model, the ST2Z-E. The -E model once again uses the Chariot
Type II Endo Steel chasis to lighten the 'Mech, but also uses ArcShield Maxi I
Ferro-Fibrous armor in place of the standard Chevron plate. The -E model
keeps the 180 meter jump capacity of the -A and keeps the armor at 3 tons, but
its Ferro-Fiberous composite allows the reinforcement of the arms, and torso,
including the rear center. With the extra ton, the Type 18 medium laser is
upgraded to a Defiance P5M pulse model. House Davion, in its never-ending
quest for new technology, has also modified several of its newly manufactured
-E model Botflies with a new Triple-Strength Myomer composite (the same as on
the CN9-D3 Centurion), producing the ST2Z-E3 model. These new models are
proving to be just as effective as the Star League version, with the accuracy
of the pulse laser helping when the BattleMech employs its jump jets.

...But, this is my Pre-Star League design, plus fluff:

Type/Model: Knox M-6A
Tech: Inner Sphere / 2018
Config: Biped BattleMech
Rules: Level 1, Standard design
Mass: 25 tons
Chassis: A.M. General Fullframe I
Power Plant: 75 General Motors Reactive Turbine
Walking Speed: 32.4 km/h
Maximum Speed: 54.0 km/h
Jump Jets: None
Armor Type: Chobam II

Armament:
1 McDonnell Douglas M-242 "Bushmaster"
1 Raytheon M-220

Manufacturer: A.M. General
Location: Terre Haute, Indiana, United States, North America, Terra
Communications System: Hewlet-Packard A/N PRC 16
Targeting & Tracking System: Garmin Pro-Series III

Overview:
The earliest "BattleMech" in recorded history, the U.S. Army's M-6 "Knox" was built for anti-terrorist operations in the Middle East. Small and slow by modern standards, the Knox was State-of-the-Art in 2016.
The last surviving Knox is in the Royal War Museum on New Avalon. Originally believed to be a non-functioning prototype, Com Star records recovered in 3065 show that even though there were containment issues with the early fusion reactor, the 'Mech was actually used in combat for forty-nine years.

Capabilities:
Mounting an M-242, 25mm "Bushmaster" autocannon, made popular on the Army's Bradley fighting vehicles and the U.S. Marine Corps' LAV-25 Piranha, the Knox had excellent range against lightly armored targets. However, the M-242 was ineffective against heavier combat vehicles, such as the Soviet-built tanks that were prevalent in the Middle East at the time. The "A" variant of the M-6 solved this problem by mounting a twin-tube M-220 Advance T.O.W. II missile rack, with fifty total loads.

Battle History:
Used initially in Tehran against Iranian insurgents in 2018, the Knox proved unable to stand up to armored vehicles, and was also too slow to keep pace with Armored Cavalry Regiments. The type "A" redesign, with a twin-tube missile launcher and slightly better speed, allowed the Knox to keep pace with Mechanized Infantry, and provide a punch to back the ground-pounders in places that larger armored vehicles could not go.
Eventually retired in 2067, the Knox had completed over three hundred missions against armed opponents in the Middle East and Southeast Asia, with only seven of these early 'Mechs being lost to combat.
The last surviving M-6, an"A3" model produced in 2034, is on display at the Royal War Museum on New Avalon.

Variants:
The original M-6 was produced from 2016 to 2019. The upgraded "A" model, with better anti-armor firepower, was introduced in late 2018, and continued production until 2052. The "A1" model, with an upgraded Electronic Warfare system and communications package, was introduced in limited numbers throughout the Knox's production run, due to its lack of weaponry. A jungle warfare variant, labeled type"A2" was produced for the North Korean Campaign from 2031 thru 2035. The only other known variant was the "A3," which was up-armored, and replaced the "A" models' T.O.W. missiles with machine guns. This variant was used for Urban Operations.

Notable 'Mechs MechWarriors: Command Sergeant Major John Herbst -
CSM Herbst served with the 3rd Armored Cavalry Regiment during the Iranian Campaign. His Knox, the Goldbrick, was the first 'Mech ever credited with a vehicle kill, when he destroyed a Soviet-built BRDM-1 personnel carrier with his 25mm cannon.
