BTW, I just noticed that the contest ends tonight and I'll likely not be around to start the next one tomorrow (Sunday is our annual huge Battletech game)...

It would be nice to have some anonymous feedback from the judges.

It's my "can't win for losing" moment, being part of how I deal with any contest.

Not a large part, mind you.

"Missed a round" was what I ment to say …

Ahhhh...well, this results should be up tomorrow some time. And stupid me just realized I didn't post the next contest (must still be hung over from HorhiroCon) so I'll post that at the same time.

My internet is down at home right now and I can't post easily post results from my phone. As soon as the problem is fixed I'll get the results and next contest up.

Originally posters were required to upload the HMPro file for their designs...we're dropping that rule because we're finding it's easier to just C&P the posts and send them around that way.

I have not been able to upload HM files since I switched over to Vista. Whenever I look for them in my directory for uploading it's as if they are not there, because I can't find them. However, I pull them up rather easily within the HM programs.

I don't know anything about Vista (I jumped from XP to 7) so I can't help...did you post about that in one of the regular forums? Perhaps someone here has an answer...

im not playing the game, and the rules of turnaments are a sealed book to me, so i do not know by heart what is t-legal.

i made all those as level 2, thinking that should solve that.

than i fear i have double eqipment, but do not think so.

last is i might be better with 95 tonns on some, did not yet have the time to check.(but that is another story)

So am I.

But I'm patient, if you're not I can easily delete your score so you won't need to worry about it.

Just for the record, I'm less happy than you all are because I have to chase around people via e-mail to turn in their ballots...I turned mine in on the 5th or 6th (it's been so long I can't remember). When I recruited judge I told them it would take one hour once every three weeks or so, and if they couldn't do that to please not bother. We did have one mostly unavoidable mishap, but the rest has been pure laziness from other people. Should we do this again next year we'll all have to get together to figure out a better way (or maybe just find better people, I think on paper the method works great).

i suggest recruiting a few more judges, so the fastest few will count.

Here's the problem there...I think everyone wants judges that will take a little bit of time to really look at designs. If only the fastest count how would you like to be the judge that spends some quality time really looking at them and then finds out his is one of the votes that doesn't count because he wasn't fast enough to get his vote in? I think it would lead to sloppy judging, and that's not fair to the folks that spend a lot of time creating these units.

And finding other judges would be an exercise someone else will have to tackle, I spent way too much time recruiting the ones we got.

well to take the fastest maybe creating that danger, thats right.

maybe a deadline-solution would be better, so when the results are in before the deadline they count, unless a certain minimum is not reached. it makes no difference between for example 5 or 8 results added up.

For the current contest, does the "2nd" mech also have to have 4 variations?

Think of it this way:

You can build an IS clunker, through the ages, and then give it a surprise IIC, or else you do some Royal Army monster, watch it get revised though the Pentagon wars, and then you ether A) build the uneek, solitary patchwork unit that survived the Succession Wars, or B) the dumbed down Dragoon model they brought, only to find it sticks out like a sore thumb.

A question about the 3075 era design in contest 10 if I may ?, I'm slightly confused about 3075 design category - jihad period ? or Star League period ? as both were in TRO3075, And if Jihad era period tech then Snub nose PPCs (for example) are out as they are Advanced (level 3) tech ?.

Sorry to be a pain.

Dave.

Having looked at the standings do you realize if Davion_Boy wins first, ViperXTC wins second and CavGunner wins third place there will be a three way tie for First Place. Pretty cool!

If that should happen the vote tossed out this round will be the tie breaker...

Funny you should ask, because late last night the full ballots were sent out to everyone...now the wait is for tonight to see which ballot is removed (we're using the first digit of one of the state lotteries to pick one at random for us), so they'll be up tomorrow morning.

As a matter of interest - being non American (I'm English) - (so I have no idea what you mean by "we're using the first digit of one of the state lotteries" ? is that like A,B,C ? or something totally different?.

Thanks.

Dave.

Here in the US many states have daily number lotto drawings where a number from 0000 to 9999 is randomly generated.

All of the ballots are randomly numbered 1 to whatever the last one is (7 for this one)...using tonight's Rhode Island daily number (I think it's RI this time, my list is on my laptop) we use the first digit to remove one ballot. If the first digit is higher than the number of ballots, we move on to the second number, and so on until one is eliminated. If all four digits are higher we move to the next state on the list (which tonight will be the top one again because we picked only 10) and keep going until one is eliminated.

Congratulations to all the participants, and especially Leon & Cavgunner! It was a squeaker for certain and it was anyone's game right up until the end.

So now that this is all done can we see the actual points we scored during each contest? I am curious as to how we did and how close some of the contests really were.

I just purged all those e-mails yesterday but someone has to have saved them (I never save anything  ) ...as soon as I get sent them I'll post them. I know couple of the contests we had to go to the discarded ballot to break ties.
