==Overview:==
some strategists want to fill up the ranks as fast and as easy as possible by
building cheap weaponsystems en masse.
others want to concentrate on shiny high quality weaponsystems that are as
strong as possible, but also expensive, and could only be built in small
numbers.
the best way however seems to be a mediocre weaponsystem for a decent price,
that can be built in decent numbers, but also can make a difference on a one
by one basis. not low price, not high power but effectivity and effectivity
again is what decides battles and wars. this is the philosophy behind the
KISS(Keep It Simple and Solid).
to acheave its goal best the KISS has a combination between energy and
balistic weapons, so it can fire all weapons but one medium laser without
building up heat, and when it has used up its ammo it can fire all energy
weapons all the time without breaking a sweat.
it has ammo for 20 salvos, so even inexperienced warriors have a chance of
hitting something,
19 tons of standard armor give it a decent level of protection.
the choice of ERLL over ERPPCs gives it a slight but usefull advantage in
range.
over all the KISS is able to fill the ranks of the toumans of all clans that
own its blueprints without using any of the powerfull but limited technologys
endo-steel or ferro fibrous armor, XL engines or OMNI-technology. this way the
KISS-production does not lower the output of the powerfull OMNIs.
its drawback is that the KISS is rather slow. its strength is obviously the
defense of static positions, when moving fast is not needed.
because it is inferior to OMNI-mechs the KISS is mainly found in second line
units, and some say its its main value that it frees more valuable mechs for
frontline units.
in some cases however it proved its value when second line/garrison units that
were equipped with it found themselves under attack.
in that case the tendency of clan(and some non-clan-) pilots to underestimate
non-OMNIs usually lasted just long enough for the attackers to find out the
hard way.
