Contest #8 will be to create four Inner Sphere mechs, one each at the following weights: 25 tons, 50 tons, 75 tons, 100 tons.

Each larger design must have all the equipment of the lighter unit. For example, if the 25 ton mech has a medium laser in the RA every design must have a medium laser in the RA. If the 50 ton mech has a large laser in the CT, the two remaining units must have that large laser in the CT. If the 25 tonner has a regular engine and the 50 tonner switches to an XL, the remaining units must keep the XL (same for endo and heat sinks). Switching from "regular" weapons to upgraded versions is not allowed; once a medium laser, always a medium laser.

Any tournement legal equipment is allowed.

Presume cost is not an issue.

Deadline for entries is 2359 EDT on 30 July 2011.

I had wanted to stick the a 300 STD engine, but that light two where just pants that way.

It could be argued "the HPPC was the wrong gun to mount on the medium", but that was one of the earlier visions I'd had for this line, so I stuck to it. It cost me an MP, but it was still nice punch for the class.

Only mounting one ER-PPC on the heavy still looks wrong to me, but made it a viable 'Mech, as opposed to the "excuse to build the assault" I'd started with.

Only now does it occure to me "the coolant pods aren't Kosher", but I don't care: They're too much fun. :suave:

So there you go, kids: You still have to submit something, 'cause I could be disqualified! :busted: :deal: :clown: :brick: :bolt: :nobeer:

I came up with the same idea (300 Engine) and also got hung up on the 25- & 50-tonners with a standard engine... then I re-thought, why did I need to start with a standard engine? So I began the process with an XL and went from there...

Points to anyone who can figure out where I got the names for these designs.

Gentlemen, After the fiasco of the last attempt the design team was put up against a wall....and shown the error of their ways... :rotate: and here is the reworked prototypes of the family of 'Mechs the tender asked for.

The project chief has kept the Star League standard Phonetic Alphabet designation until after the final testing phase.

Although the Bravo & Charlie models on paper look the same, the Charlie model does carry more armor though that is expected of a design 25 tons heavier.

Here's my last minute entry. It's a family of Quads that are being built in the Hanseatic League. All four models would be prototypes. Originally my concept was standard bipeds all equipped a 300XL engine. I scuttled that idea as the 25-tonner would have been ridiculously underwhelming, although it was freaking fast. I went for the Quad concept and kept ait at Introducory tech and came up with what you see here.
