This age old contest is running longer than the Succession Wars, do we have a winner on this? :lol:

Ok, since no one is really stepping up, ima do the honors in presenting the winner... now keep in mind there were over 40 entries... i carefully wrote down each entry name, mech name, and bv next to each other... next i carefully reviewed the weapons, tech lvl, and tech weapon lvl... and the number of items used... now seriously, is having 10+ AMS that dire to have in the field on a single mech? So any design with 3+ AMS was scratched off... i can 2 at most being used but after that it gets rediculous... now it came down to actually 10 entries i thought would be good candidates... with 5 of those entries belong to someone (i cant say that it ensured his win by 50%) but all 10 designs, IMO are combat worthy... so to name the winner... and the winner is...

AWPrime's Planetslayer PTY-2B with 2201 BV

Why? for one it doesnt mass large amounts of AMS to get a higher BV, 2nd, yes it does mass rocket launchers, but at least you can attack with it and still have the gauss rifles to use along with er medium lasers...

So AWPrime, congrats!!! :wink:

And it's only been, what? about a year. ;-)

I'll try to get this up soon. AWPrime, would you like to send me the data file for this puppy, and make sure any fluff you want to include is there?

I not sure if I care for a countdown, But he did say he got it down to 10 entries so I was curious if mine had made it or not. :o

Manufacturer:  Boudicca Mechworks
  Location:    Canopus IV
Communications System: Duoteck 65 w/ ECM
Targeting & Tracking System: Scorn TTS

------------------------------------------------------------------------------
==Overview:==
  As the Jihad rages through the Inner Sphere many people flee from their
homes in search for safety. Many of them end up in the Magistracy of Canopus.
The refugees that flee to the MoC are mostly women. One of these refugees is
Boudicca Guderian.
   She is a wealthy engineer who had worked on reintroducing the Starslayer
Battlemech. During the Jihad she had lost her husband and her children to the
WOB. She managed to flee with a large weapon shipment that were about to be
used for an upgraded Starslayer, containing ECM equipment, TSM bundles and
extended range lasers.
   At first she worked the MoC to upgrade their Starslayers, but a large
amount of equipment remained after upgrading them. Boudicca then had the idea
to use the remaining equipment to create a command 'Mech. However the
government didn't share her enthusiasm about this assault Mech project, and
thus didn't give her any of the normal subsidies.

==Capabilities:==
   Without the subsidies Boudicca was unable to buy the necessary fusion
engines. This forced her to use an internal combustion engine with power
amplifiers to support the gauss weapons and the lasers.
   The Planetslayer is based upon the Starslayer and this can be clearly seen
in the looks. Like with the Starslayer the main punch comes from two main
weapons mounted in the right torso and arm. Both in this case are gauss
rifles. Triple strength myomer were used to compensate for the slow engine.
The rear facing extended range medium lasers and the ECM suite are used to
cover the weaknesses of this mech. The twelve rocket launcher packs were added
to give the enemy a reason to keep away.

==Deployment==
   Even with all the effort that is put into this project, only one or two
Planetslayers are manufactured every month. Nevertheless the military is happy
with the design and is deploying them as a fire support 'Mechs in the
Magistracy Royal Guards. With the growing support from the military, Boudicca
should have enough support to ask for subsidies needed to make a larger
production run with fusion engines.

The winner has been chosen, and the design added to the Contest Page. Thanks to all those who participated, and to your patience for it taking so long. ;-)
