U-2 spy plane crashed in California during a training mission. One dead, one injured. http://www.cnn.com/2016/09/20/politics/ ... u-2-crash/ The U-2 is a notoriously difficult plane to fly and is like 60 years old now. Amazing to me that they're still in front line use, or at least that we haven't made an easier to fly variation of it. |

An easier to fly variation would involve still building planes LIKE IT... which nobody does. There's nothing currently being manufactured that even comes CLOSE to its flight profile, which is why the few surviving examples are in such high demand, as are pilots qualified to fly them. Making this a nasty double-whammy. |
