Some of you may know that I haven't written many BattleTech stories in the last couple years. Heck, I've even been spotty on my Human Sphere and P.R.I. of late.

The reason is simple. I've been writing my own stories.

Imagine if you will, a world where we go into space and explore the UNIVERSE!. Well, our little corner of it. The Local Bubble as it were. Googlefu that if you don't know what it is. ;) And then, in 2205, THEY make Contact. With the British. Bloody Aliens aren't smart enough to come talk to a REAL superpower like America. Oh no...it has to be the Bloody British... ;)

All grumbling aside, they bring medical treatments that end sickness as we know it, extend our life times to centuries, and help us learn how to tame gravity itself in our pursuit of the stars. And we take some of the knowledge we get from them to do little things like uplift our best friends. Dogs and cats for instance. Though they have different ways of showing their gratitude to us. Anyone who has been owned by either can guess their reactions upon getting full sentience I'm certain. ;)

A century after Contact, Jack is a college slacker who really has no goal in life other than to have fun and play with girls in this Second Age of Methuselah. Betty is the latest offspring of a cybernetic family over 2,000 years old, born with the knowledge of thousands of lifespans of her family members in her memory banks.

And then the Alien Shang attack us. So starts the Forge of War.

Right now it is available on Kindle

If you are interested, please check it out. And if you like it, please review it. :)

http://www.amazon.com and search for Forge of War.

I've also published another novella, Wolfenheim Rising.

Four years after the first Shang attacks, the Wolfenheim Project became a reality. We had the ships we needed. We had the people we needed. We were ready to take humanity’s message to the stars. Then the people funding the Wolfenheim Project found out they were funding the Wolfenheim Project and demanded their money back.

Things got interesting after that.

Wolfenheim Rising is available for Kindle at Amazon.com

http://www.amazon.com and search for Wolfenheim Rising

_________

You can find all of my stories at my Amazon author page

Yes, this is a full novel. The stuff I post in facebook are short diary entries that give a taste of the universe. The full novel is in that same universe.

As for other formats, this week I plan to push the novel up to drivethrufiction which offers it in other formats, and IIRC from my research even hard cover.

Hey, how'd this become a stickied thread? I'll have to look into that when I get the chance.

Just to clarify, Med asked if it was okay to post about his new novel, and I gladly said yes. And as it's more relevant than most OT threads, I think a sticky is just fine.

Thanks for the sticky bit...though now that I've rubbed up against it, I'm gonna have to wash that sticky off! ;)

BTW:

Forge of War is now available on DriveThruFiction.com

http://www.drivethrufiction.com/product ... rge-of-War

They know how to make short links. ;)

It is available in mobi (Kindle) and epub formats, can can be read in basically any ereader I know. On computer too with an ereader program.

The interesting thing I've noted about DriveThruFiction is that I can upload basically any file I feel like and allow you to purchase it. Have it be part of the purchase. So, if there are formats you would like to have it available in, just ask. Assuming I can find a way to convert to it, I should be able to make that format available to you.

I have received a large amount of feedback from many people on Forge of War over the last few weeks. I also sold way, way more copies than I ever expected. This is my first published novel, and I am incredibly lucky to have had the success I have had with it. So I decided to take advantage of the digital platform, and the large amount of feedback, to give Forge of War some much needed buffing and polishing.

Forge of War has been updated on all platforms.

Forge of War is now exclusively available on Amazon in Kindle format, which can be read on most e-readers, tablets, and computers. And by downloading it to a computer, you can convert it to epub format for reading on pretty much any other e-reader as I do not have DRM on the novel.

In celebration of the move, I have decided to make Forge of War available as a free promotion on May 2nd and May 3rd. Now’s your chance to try it out and see what you think. Give Jack a shot, and he might just surprise you. And he’s one that likes surprises…

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00BJG ... ofharts-20

In 2205, we learned the answer to one of the oldest questions of all time. Are we alone? They brought medicines with them that nearly wiped out diseases, and extended the human lifespan into the centuries. They helped us study advanced technologies, and expand our colonies hundreds of lightyears from Earth. It was a golden age that many thought would never end.

Jack grew up in a world at peace, his only interests, partying and girls. But when a sneak attack killed millions of Americans, and wiped out almost everything and everybody Jack knew, he volunteered to serve and get some payback. But the Marines want more than people looking for revenge, and cybernetic partners demand a higher commitment. If Jack wanted to earn his commission as Marine Corps fighter pilot, he had to let himself be forged into something stronger than he’d ever felt the need to be. A man willing to live up to the name of his squadron. A Cowboy.

The reviews speak. :)

What I've read of the novel so far (long story short my kindle is playing up) I've really enjoyed the story arc, I just love the 'way' each chapter starts, Well worth the read, I certainly hope that there is another book in the pipe line !.

I'm working on Wolfenheim Rising right now, which is a direct continuation of one of the plots introduced in Forge of War. :)

And I'm very glad you like it so far. :)

I'm sorry your kindle is acting up. I hope it starts being nicer. :(

Thanks man,

All I ask is that if you like the book, please review it.

I never realized just how much amazon reviews affect sales until I started watching them.

I was #1 sales rank before I got my first 2 star review. Since then, every time I've gotten a good review my sales have trended upward, until I got a bad review that told people just to not even buy the book because it sucks. Then sales trended back down.

It's a rather amazing trend to watch. :)

Well, this is fun. Someone decided they didn't like me selling books on Amazon and wrote a really bad review about my book being only good for deletion. This after I got three five star reviews in a row. Just goes to show that you can't please everybody. ;) Now if you have read the book and have a better opinion about it, I'd be awful happy if you'd be willing to review it for me. Good reviews are always nice to have. :)

Every bit of good feedback helps sales. :)

It is amazing how twitchy sales are to each review.

Well, guys, Wolfenheim Rising has finally been published. :)

I've been rather looking forward to this for a while. hehehe.

Here's the official blurb I've been posting around on other sites.

_____

Hello, my name is Malcolm, and I commanded the Wolfenheim Project. We did good putting it together. We had the ships we needed. We had the people we needed. We were ready to take humanity’s message to the stars. Then the people funding the Wolfenheim Project found out they were funding the Wolfenheim Project and demanded their money back.

That was when things got interesting...

_________

Wolfenheim Rising is available for Kindle at Amazon.com

I will probably translate it to nook this week.

Note that if you have one of the new nooks, they can download the kindle reader from the google market.

If you have one of the older nooks though, you are out of luck there.

As noted though, I intend to translate it there ASAP. :)

I have finished translating the book over to Nook, and it is now available.

So if you've been waiting, please read and review it. :)

I currently have another project on my burners. I'm working on an infantry combat game designed to be light on rules and heavy on fun. ;)

I'm pushing up previews of some of the art assets I have contracted right now.

https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid ... 042%2C2048

Wow, that's a long link.

If it doesn't work, you can find them at:
https://www.facebook.com/jackofhartsonline

In short, I have the rules up to alpha state and am looking for people willing to alpha or later beta test them. They are six pages of 12 point font right now, and I intend to keep them below 10 pages total in the end. If you are interested, please contact me. :)

I have released another short novella for all your reading pleasures. :)

Angel Flight

In 2205, we learned the answer to one of the oldest questions of all time. Are we alone? They brought medicines with them that nearly wiped out diseases, and extended the human lifespan into the centuries. They helped us study advanced technologies, and expand our colonies hundreds of lightyears from Earth. It was a golden age that many thought would never end.

Then their enemies brought War to us all. We gave them a belly full of it. We drove them out of Alpha Centauri, rebuilt the losses they inflicted on us, and assembled the largest, most powerful fleet that had ever flown under Terran banners. Third Fleet was our best hope to defeat them and bring a quick end to The War.

But not everyone agreed on how to use it. Alliance leadership wanted to see it in action immediately while our allies stressed caution. The demand for results won out over caution and that is where we came in. Texas Marine Fighter Attack Squadron 112, the Cowboys. We were sent to support the fleet and to watch out for anything the enemy might throw at us. I honestly thought it would be a cakewalk. I mean, who would ever attack something the size of Third Fleet? That would be crazy…

Cool.

Thanks man.

Note that Forge of War is the first one, and is a bit rougher. I keep intending to go back and do another editing pass on it...

Mechs of War... Uh Hunh! I read a lot of nods to stories an maybe a few authors. You write a good dog fight. I did go out of order  But I'll survive.

Oh I recommended you to a coworker who introduced me to Honor Harrington. With the plug to pass on your name when(not IF) he likes your work. :toast:

I have not named the Braid yet. I honestly didn't know the history of the original braid, and so while I knew it was part of the universe I did not know why...;)

And his name is Malcolm....Malcolm McDonnell. Please don't wear the name out. It is not any kind of ode to any other series that may or may not have had a captain named Malcolm... Now if there was a preacher man...*clears throat* Dang...didn't think of that until right now... OK, OK...so the name was partially picked because I wanted to tip a hat there. But in the end I only used it because I was able to give it a good story...and the name of Malcolm McDonnell hints at all kinds of stories...especially when he's on a first-name basis with certain upstanding citizens who can...find things that fall off the end of trucks and the like...;)

Hey guys and girls. I'm looking to publish a new infantry combat game. Very simple. Future based but the rules are minimal in nature and could easily handle fantasy. That was one of the driving aspects of the game. I want it to be able to act as a substitute for far more complex games if the players wish. It also just happens to be officially written to follow the stories that I write. ;)

Anyways, I'm looking for people interested in beta testing the rules and giving me feedback. They are short, sweet in my opinion, and to the point in order to make gameplay as quick and fun as possible. Please message me if you are interested. Prior experience in beta testing would be awesome.

This is a sample image of the front of one of the character cards that will be in the game.

Well now you have an idea as to how to fit the braid... Could be a commendation for their first great victory, or a commendation for all the work accomplished in the first book.

The story behind the forte... As teh Corps taught it

The Germans set up Machine gun squads in Bella Woods
Marines came and kicked their Ash
Went on liberty and broke French women's hearts.
Germans came back
Marines went back and kicked their Ash again
Went on liberty and broke French women's hearts.
Germans came back... Again
Marines went back and kicked their Ash... Yet again.
Went on liberty and broke French women's hearts...again.
Germans came back... Again
Marines went in with Bayonets fixed Killed every last German. Destroyed the Woods. Broke hearts. and was not allowed to have more Iron Crosses than a French Unit... Given the Braid instead.

According to Boot Camp... and Not denied by us 5th Marines :toast:

Well guys, I've finally brought my game live. It is designed to be fast and simple to play with easy rules to learn. Forge of Wars: Tactics centers on small scale infantry combat, which just happens to be about the same number of people who are in most role playing sessions. Coincidence? I think not. ;)

I have plans for putting out extra character expansions, weapons packs, and other stuff. And I'm hoping to make other games in the same family. Armored combat, space combat, and other fun little things. Maybe even mecha combat. ;) Yes, I have plans and I very much hope I can fulfill them all. hehehe.

So here is the game:

https://www.thegamecrafter.com/games/fo ... s:-tactics

Forge of Wars: Tactics
Fast paced infantry combat brings worlds to war in your game room.
Forge of Wars: Tactics is designed to be a fast paced game of infantry combat. I've played games for years and I've always wanted a way to play quick and dirty battles. Yes I love involved systems with rules for everything from morale to whether or not it is easier to slip on wet concrete or dry ice. But sometimes I just want to roll dice and watch things die. Virtually of course.

Forge of Wars: Tactics is my answer to that wish. I hope it is yours too.

The game comes with everything you need to play a game of combat between futuristic American and Chinese fire teams. Future expansions will add to this core set. Included are character cards that provide stats for twelve different units including standard infantry, powered armor, and light tactical vehicles, character tokens for use on the battlefield, and even dice and a ruler.

This is a true game in a box and I hope you will enjoy it.
