G'Day All,
What's the general opinion on the new Blood Asp mini ? Personally, I think it's just too big.
The sculpt appears to be from the Mechcommander2 game (which looked much better than the TRO version). Without modification, the arm pods don't hang properly either. The size has made the gauss rifles look smaller than they should.
This may just sound like whining, well it mostly is, but the Blood Asp in the game looked mean, this mini is bigger than any Atlas, even the new one.
I'm after other opinions, either positive or negative, they're just personal opinions.
Thanks peoples
Eric. :-?
Oh, and, Highland Ranger .... see you Saturday

I thought the new Blood Asp mini looks very good. Alot better than the old one anyway.

I love it, although I don't have any. I actually posted a mech in designs that was based on it, and it has performed extremely well in the past.

I have seen it, don't have one. And, I also think its just a tad bit too large.

Not great, but a vast improvement over the dopey legs on the original sculpt.

I don't have the new one, but the pics I've seen make it look good. The old one certainly needed help. Furthermore, as I understand it, although it is large, other big Assault 'Mechs will be equally large. And all of them are going to continue dwarfing all our old Unseens.

It definitley is way too big (see one in person to compare if you haven't yet) but that doesn't really bother me. It's far better looking than the original sculpt.

G'Day, the mini stands taller than any Atlas mini, and broader too.
I took it to my local wargames club last Saturday, the guys there didn't think it was too big, they sited the fact that it's a 90 ton omni with bird legs, so all the size/weight is in the torso and arms, and the legs have to be bigger to support it, sound reasoning.
The only reason I say it's too big is that it makes the guass rifles look too small, if the mini was only a bit smaller it'd be fine with me.
Now if the arms pods could hang vertically without modding, I wouldn't be wingeing. :)
Eric.

Thanks for the responses, it also appears to me that a lot of the minis now are being sculpted/molded without bases (not the hex base), which makes for easier use in dioramas, now that things seem to bo of a uniform scale.
Eric.

On the older boards over at CBT (before the great crash #1) I wrote a post suggesting that the Inronwind team were on drugs because the scaling of the figures appeared to be out all together - case in point at the time was the new scorpion...

within minutes I had a mod all over me saying what a great bunch of chappies they were over at IWM and that it was insulting to suggest or imply any substance abuse to the team,

:o

So irrespective of their personal habits or stand on substance abuse I hold solidly to the point that the scaling for their newer range makes no attempt to match the previous scupts or in some cases even match a realistic scale.

As I understand it, they have developed a new standard scale that is going to be applied to new sculpts. The 1:285 has always been nominal, and the new compared to the old seems to make it even more nominal still. However, supposedly when you compare new to new everything will work out well. I sure hope so.

Well I have assembled several of the Blood Asps. I agree that the arms are odd. The size is pretty tough on storage,...but dang it is a tough looking Mech
