With my flair for LAMS, I thought it would be fun to attempt a Helo Lam.

If "Transformers" can do it, why can't I ??

If an Air Force in the future can have a LAM why can't the Army have a Helo-LAM ??

So with bins full of parts and a few hours to relax at my workbench.

Very, VERY cool. Would love to see game rules for something like this. :D

If I can get another MW helo of this type I'll build it. Just a bulkier version of the existing helo

To get it into VTOL mode this is how I imagine it would convert:

The nose stays put engine unit rotates downward and locks in behind the cockpits

The top air intake rotates and slides back towards the rotor head as the blades extend outward

The lower body moves with the engine unit rotating upwards.

The legs rotate 90 degrees to the outside with the legs locking together. The tail rotor unit shifts to what was the front of the left leg.

humm, looks like this is the BattleMech mode,
what does it look like in Hybrid Mode? does it fly?

or would this be only a two mode unit , i.e. Bech and VTOL...

the shaping would almost work better as a two mode...

I think it would follow your comments.......

2 modes only

As shown, a modified mech mode and a true VTOL mode

i would opt for 3 modes

one: mech mode, body vertical, rotor vertical, no airborn movement

two: transition mode, body vertical rotor horizontal, short distance slow airborne movement

three: heli-mode, body horizontal, rotors horizontal, full airborn mobility

To match the current LAM rules, I'd say two modes.

BattleMech and VTOL.

In current rules, LAMs move as BattleMechs in BattleMech mode, VTOLs in LAM mode, and ASFs in ASF mode.

So just have this have BattleMech and VTOL modes. :)
