I have been honing my Illustrator Autotrace skills and I though I would have some fun and autotrace a Marauder picture. I traced it and colored it in a simple color scheme. What do ya think?

the four color shemes in one picture remind me of the old custom to show the regiment the unit belongs to in the color of some uniform parts.

in this case: the grey of the body would be replaced by the color/paint sheme that shows to wich army the mech belongs.
the color/paint sheme of head/cockpit represents the regiment
the color of the arms represents batallion
the color of the feet represents company
the 12 mechs of the company could be identified by symbols like on playing cards first lance would be ace king queen and jack of spades, second ..of hearts third ...of clubs.

this idea can be widely varied with the color of different parts of the mech having different meanings.

actually i think some units use different paint shemes for different companys, but im not sure if its done this systematically.

german tanks were numbered like this in large numbers painted on them:
leading team leader: 00 second member of leading team: 01 third team member (if present) 02 etc
first member of first platoon: 10: 2nd: 11 3rd 12 etc.
first member of 2nd platoon: 20 2nd 21 3rd: 22 etc.
first member of 3rd platoon: 30 2nd: 31 3rd: 32 etc
etc.

a company of 14 tigers would have had the following numbers painted on them large:
lead team: 00 01
1st Pl: 10 11 12 13
2nd Pl: 20 21 22 23
3rd Pl: 30 31 32 33

a company of mechs:
command Lance: 00 01 02 03
2nd Lance: 10 11 12 13
3rd Lance: 20 21 22 23

its thinkable to add a third(leading) digit to number companys of a battallion, as this makes 10 companys possible a regiment of up to 10 companys could be marked like this with 3 digits

when more than a regiment has to be marked the first regiment has white numbers, 2nd red 3rd green etc.
