As I walked into the auditorium at the Mercenary Hall, I unconsiously brushed away at the spot my former Officer tags would have been.
I was worried that the telltale marks and older Federated Suns Class B jacket would automatically drop me down several pegs once I got to the Interview.

Sure enough, first question out of the gun was what I expected but not the direction of travel.

" Mr .....eh......Hhmm........ Mr Ward, we need and are looking for competent Officers to assist us in an upcoming contract"........." I take it you are compentent !!??"........."That is why you're here isn't it ?? the Interviewer asked......................
"Do you have your own mech ??"......... "We give a bonus mark on the hiring checksheet , plus repair facilities if you have one".............the Interviewer continued.

"Yes, I have my own mech and the title is clear"........ "Last electronics upgrade was 3 E. Standard years ago"......."She's a little battered"........
I countered.................

I quickly tossed some stats at the guy. "Assault Class"....... "Dual LRM20 with A-IV........Guardian ECM ...... 7 ER Medium Lasers.

"I'm not familiar with that readout for a standard A-class mech??"........"This isn't a customized unit is it ???"........."It may be too hard for us to service"!!...I think I'm going to have to forgo this offer"..............................

"Sir, Please!! I countered, no perhaps I was begging"

"Katie's downstairs in Mech Bay Four".........." Taking a few minutes to stretch your legs, get a cup of coffee , and take a walk downstairs shouldn't be too much to ask for ".....................

Question ??? So does Mr Ward get the contract or not???

I like it, but I can't figure out what the heck that torso is from for the life of me... can I get a hint at least? :)

The body of a CAV multileg walker that has been turned upside down. Not bad work, je. I like the looks of it.

I'd hire him -It's a solid support `mech with great backup firepower when low on ammo. The ECM and speed would make it fit in my unit.

The name Auroch comes to mind...

I have to admit, I think the name "Auroch" fits that almost perfectly. :)

Come on Guys............ its like a ship

Its bad luck to change the name once its been given.

This one was christened "Katie" and so it shall remain.

Perhaps, I can build something else that would be indicative and live up to the name "Auroch"

Let me do some digging around for parts and see whats available.

If the IS can have its own designation of Clan `mechs... Anyway, "Katie" is an individual `mech name, not a type of `mech, unless there is a Katie factory somewhere...

Face it, if I said, "That airplane looks like a Mitsubishi A6M2" few people would know what I'm talking about. Now if i used the American designation of "That's a Jap Zero" or "That's a Zeke..."

I was giving you my first impression...don't have an Auroch!

Interviewer does walk down to see the mech, takes a look and wets himself out of shock, then refuses to hire Ward out of shame...

Seriously cool mech though.

Someone coined a new term on another site for this mech.

" Looks like its got the first LAZRAC ever"

I was at first going to put in a RAC5, then I thought it would be too ammo dependent.

So in went the lazers............ Gee I wonder if I can skew the rules and get the RAC multiplying effect for this set-up ???
