------------------------------------------------------------------------------
==Overview:==
    The Crab was well-known in the Star League era as an excellent medium
raider. Thanks to some of the technical breakthroughs, the Crab is once again
seeing service in the ranks of the Word of Blake, as it seems to have
undergone some rather significant upgrades.

==Capabilities:==
     Unlike the original Crab, this new iteration is a shining example of the
Word of Blake's technological edge. By reducing the ferro-fibrous armor to a
lighter composite material, it reduces the bulk enough to allow for an
endo-steel exoskeleton.
    The engine was replaced by an XL model, freeing up weight for the large
lasers to be replaced by experimental binary laser cannons (or blazers). The
massive weapons can do double the damage of the large lasers it used to carry,
while only increasing the heat by 50%. The medium and small lasers were
replaced with extended-range variants.
    Lastly, the heat sinks were replaced with double-strength freezers, and a
C3i unit was installed to improve coordination with the Blakist units.

==Battle History:==
    Unlike most other mechs that are not the Celestial Omnimechs, the new
version of the Crab has been seen in medium Level IIs throughout the Shadow
Division. As an ammo-independent raider, it excels in the terror tactics and
hit and run style of combat that they prefer.
    Currently the new Crab can be found in the Shadow Divisions almost
exclusively. However, Precentor St. Jamais was able to acquire some for the
Protectorate Militia, though the defensive utility of the mech is
questionable.

==Variants:==
    A few rare variants of the Crab have installed the Void Signature System.
To make room for the equipment, the C3i system is removed in favor of a
Guardian ECM system. Additionally, the light ferro-fibrous armor is replaced
by regular armor to give the cloaking system enough space to function
properly.

==Notable 'Mechs & MechWarriors:==
Phantom Precentor Kafziel: Little is known of this member of the Manei Domini.
His cyberware obscures most of his features, giving him an almost avian
appearance. He pilots his Void-Signature modified Crab with fanatical skill,
and little is known about him except that his devotion to his commander,
Gabriel, is absolute. Some would say it might even supersede his loyalty to
Apollyon and the Word of Blake itself... but no one would dare say that in his
presence.

==Deployment==
    The new Blakist Crab battlemechs are currently deployed throughout the
Shadow Divisions, often as battlefield replacements for lost Preta Omnimechs.
A scant few have been seen in the Protectorate Militia, but those are the
exceptions, not the rule.

Yep. I did something like this.

The only thing that makes me tick is that I still get controversial info from different sources on the TacOps errata regarding Binary Laser Cannons...

Well, looking at the printouts from Blake Documents, I'm going to go with the 12 Heat 16 Damage for now.

Arg. Just hit the CBT forums. Darn you Herb! Darn you all to heck! :(

(Yes, it's 16 heat 12 damage. Not sure why you wouldn't just use a pair of large lasers for 1 ton more, now.) :o

I'm not real sold on their advantage either.

the advantage is that one laser hits one location, makeing a big, potentially lethal, hole.
two lasers make two smaller holes that are less likely to get through the armor.
eg.:
at max armor a large laser could not penetrate the armor at the head of a mech.
the 12 points of damage is exactly the sum of IS and armor a mech-head can maximally have. so one head-hit decapitates the mech instantly(does that leave a chance to eject?)

I understand the headcap advantage, but that's it. The other side is one internal takes out your big gun, and you have less crit chances. With the new armor types a 12 point headshot is no longer a guaranteed headcap.
