==Overview:==
Chadran Arms is a small manufacturer that recently opened a factory on the
world of Nykvarn, which had been under Clan Smoke Jaguar occupation for nearly
ten years.

Their first design (this one) was at the behest of the Dragon, who had, after
seeing the performance of the AFFC's Watchman and Sentry designs during the
incursion into the Draconis Combine in 3064, put forward a requirement for a
cheap, reliable, but effective medium mech.

==Capabilities:==
Ironically the design takes a page from a clan mech. In this case the new
Griffin IIC-4, used to great effect by clan Nova Cat, although it was
impossible to match all the capabilities of said design while remaining true
to the overall requirements.
Built around a standard engine, and proven parts, the design fit the price
requirement easily, due to it's quite impressive per unit price tag of less
than 3,6 million C bills.

The only real concession to modern parts were in the armament, the
construction of the chassis, and in the use of double heat sinks and cellular
ammunition storage equipment, both of which were identified as musts on the
modern battlefield.

Fairly mobile for a mech of it's tonnage, the Ashigaru's main armament is the
well proven Victory ER Large Laser, which has served the DCMS in over thirty
years of extensive use, both in the Mauler, and the AS-7K Atlas designs.

While the secondary weapon system, being a medium range missile launcher, is
more recent, the back up weapon to those, the medium laser has centuries of
service under it's design's belt, having been used in the Jenner design
throughout it's service.

As a final, cost effective, weapon a pair of machine guns were added to the
design towards the end of the design process. While they add little in the way
of actual fire power, they do give the design more multi role capability,
which was felt to be a good thing.

With eight and a half tons of armour backed by c.a.s.e the design is certainly
robust, and can withstand the loss of one arm without any loss of firepower
(the right one) or even both, with only a minimal loss of firepower (the
machine guns).

All in all the design ticked all the boxes of the requirement with ease.

==Deployment==
While the Ashigaru has not seen actual combat yet, a simulated battle between
a single example of the design and two Panthers proved the design's
capabilities, as it beat them both, while surviving itself, although not
without considerable damage.

Chadran Arms has already accepted orders for a full regiment's worth of the
design from the DCMS, intending mostly to replace older designs in militia
units well inside the Combine's borders, and also to be used in some of the
mech academies, both roles that the design should excell in.

There is no intention, at this time, for this design to face the clans, as
such a matchup would undoubtebly end poorly for the design.

==Overview:==
Intended as a more combat capable companion to the Ashigaru, the Sakhon gives
the overall impression to have the DCMS's long standing favorite light 'mech,
the Panther, in it's sights.

A note should be made of the design's name. It is named after the famed
sixteenth century samurai Sakhon Shima, who had tried to help his master
defeat the Tokugawa clan's ambitions, but had failed, thus resulting in his
own death soon after the battle of Sekigahara (1600ad). This is not meant as
indicative of Chadran Arms's company loyalties, instead it is meant as a show
that even ronin have their place in modern history, seeing as Sakhon spent so
much of his life as a one before joining Ishida Mitsunari, who was his final
master.

==Capabilities:==
On viewing the design specifications the first thing that stands out is the
fact that the design is not bipedal, but a quadruped, this form having been
chosen for the extra stability it would give, and it was felt that in a light
'mech the space issues would not be as great as in a much larger design.

Contrary to popular expectations with quad 'mechs, the Sakhon is a very smooth
ride, even in low gravity the design is extremely stable, and while it does
not have jump jet's, its more powerfull 245 light engine means it can easily
out run both the Panther and the Wolfhound, the two mech's it is usually
compared to. It also has a similar speed profile to both the Owens and the
Jenner, so it could be used in a lance with either of those two designs
without slowing them down as much as a Panther would.

Primarily a fast raider, although it is also intended to give a better match
for the Wolfhound than the Panther, even after it's refit, had turned out to
be. As it's primary ranged weapon a single Victory ER large laser was mounted
in the right torso, supported by a quartet of medium lasers in the opposite
one, while a C3 slave was mounted in the center torso, enabling the 'mech to
work with the increasingly popular C3 networks being used by the DCMS. The
medium lasers, while produced on Nykvarn, are direct, and licensed, copies of
the 23R design from Victory Arms.

With a full six and a half tons of ferro fibrous armour covering the mech, it
is well armored indeed for a mech of it's tonnage, although this had to be
imported for the prototype, due to the incomplete state of the needed facility
at the time.

The only real complaint with the design so far has been tracked down as minor
gremlins in the targeting and tracking system, which probably revolve more
around the fact it's Chadran Arms first home designed system of that sort, and
they have given their word to the DCMS that this problem will be eliminated
before real production starts.

Another concern has been the 5 million plus per unit price tag, but given the
'mech's capabilities, it is to be expected.

==Variants:==
One variant currently under consideration removes one of the medium lasers and
replaces it with a extra double heat sink, improving the heat curve somewhat.

Another strips out the large laser, and two of the mediums and puts in a ER
PPC instead, turning the 'mech into a very mobile sniper instead of a close
range knife fighter.

The third removes the large laser and a single medium and puts in a Snub Nose
PPC in their place. Some have suggested that these two variants are test
vehicles for omni mech configurations, but if this is the case, Chadran Arms
is not admitting that fact.

A recent fourth sacrifices two medium lasers for four extended range small
lasers, giving it some anti infantry capability, at the expense of some of
it's anti mech firepower.

There has been no serious consideration to remove the C3 Slave in any variant,
as this is considered a major selling point for the design, and a integral
part of it's intended niche of use.

There is a single exeption to this, however. One designer came up with the
hare brained idea of stripping out all the medium lasers and putting in a C3
Master. While this would mean that the master equipped mech would be able to
match speed with the slave equipped ones, it leaves the main mech somewhat
under gunned, so the chances of this variant being built are, to put it
bluntly, slim to none. It does go to show that the designers at C.A. can think
well outside the box, though.

==Deployment==
Currently only in prototype phase due to debates over the virtues of the quad
design. Even after the success of the Bishamon and Tarantula designs there are
still a lot of old school pilots who are having problems getting over the bad
reputation the original Scorpion gave all quad 'mechs.

Chadran Arms hopes that the design's considerable capabilities within it's
intended role will overcome these difficulties, however, if given time and a
chance to prove itself.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------
==Overview:==
The second mech in Chadran Arms's “Samurai” series, each named after famous
Samurai of 16th and 17th century Japan, the first being the Sakhon, the Ishida
is a dedicated command vehicle for fast C3 slave equipped mechs.

Built off a modified Shadowhawk chassis, this design does bear but a slight
resembleance to the parent design, due to the completely redesigned weapons,
and armor, loadouts.

As for the name, how could they have done differently than to name it after
Sakhon's last master, after all the two designs were intended to work together
in a scout lance, and thus would almost certainly share fates, if worst came
to worst, just as their historical counterparts had, all those centuries
past.

Initially it was intended to use a quad chassis for this design as well, but
space issues forced the designers to use a bipedal one instead, and, seeing as
the design team had chosen the fifty five ton weight class, the Shadowhawk's
was chosen, mostly because both the Griffin, and the Wolverine, had both been
remade, and entered into service in the DCMS already.

Completely remodeled on the outside, the Ishida has a very samurai like
appearance, all it is lacking is a sword to complete the image, but this was
ruled out, as it was felt a unwise idea to risk a master equipped mech in
actual physical combat. The designers having even gone so far as to re design
the lower leg assemblies to a more bird like configuration to try to throw
observers off even more.

Short history lesson:
Mitsunari Ishida was recruited at a very young age by Hideoshi (Toyotomi), who
would become the second of the three unifiers of Japan, and served him loyally
for the entirety of Hideyoshi's remaining years.

After Hideyoshi's death in 1598, Ieasu Tokugawa began maneuvering to gain
power for himself, at the expense of Hideyori, Hideyoshi's infant son. While
the opposition against this was nominally lead by Mitsunari, in the name of
his young lord.

Matters came to a head in september 1600 ad at the battle of Sekigahara, where
the Tokugawa, and Toyotomi, loyalists faced each other in a full scale battle,
each army numbering around eighty thousand men

While Mitsunari had a slight numerical advantage, this was more than offset by
divided loyalties in his force, and it would, ultimately, be this that cost
him the battle, when one of his largest units turned coat at a vital moment
and attacked his own forces.

Captured at the end of the battle, Mitsunari was forced into committing
seppuku, along with the other heads of the pro Toyotomi forces, a fate that
was shared by his loyal subordinate, Sakhon Shima, who had also been a major
figure in the pro Toyotomi army.

==Capabilities:==
Primarily the master equipped companion design to the Sakhon, the Ishida's
speed, however, means that it could, in theory at least, be used alongside
such designs as Independence Weaponry's Ninja-To design, without any serious
trouble, seeing as it can also match it's speed, if not the jump capability.

To increase the compatibility of the Ishida with the Sakhon, and to reduce the
number of different parts in production, it uses the same communication and
targeting systems, although this version has sorted out the gremlins that
plagued the original Sakhon prototype.

Initially Chadran Arms had intended to make the Ishida a omni design, but
after considerable discussion it was decided that a fifty five ton omni design
with a fixed master would not be worthwhile.

It should be noted that the eventual version picked was not the intended
primary, but instead one of the alternate configurations.

It's weapon loadout of a single Lord's Light 2 er PPC and a artemis guided
Shigunga LRM-15 is more than a little remeniscent of the Naginata's, which was
considered a good thing, seeing as the Naginata was, itself, a quite
successful, if slow, master mech. This, decidely conventional, configuration
having been chosen instead of the several more outlandish ones that had been
considered earlier.

==Variants:==
None exist outside the drawing board, as the other configurations considered
were ultimately rejected.

==Deployment==
A single prototype has been built, and sent, along with a trio of Sakhons, one
example each of the three main variants of that design, to the Sun Zhang
academy, with the request that they “test them to their limits and beyond”, as
they have done this in the past with the Hitman and Kabuto designs.

While the mechs have not been in testing for a long time, initial reports seem
promising. In particular the ability of the designs to go for long times
without needing to re supply has been identified as a strong point.
