Since there seemed to be no second line that would fit in with my intended GhostBear PGC star so I decided to try and design my own. Heatsinks are 20, weapon heat is 52 which is something that doesn't bother me as I'm not a fan of Alpha Firing. The star I'm building uses all energy weapon designs and are all either 5/8/5 or 6/9/6 movement and I don't want two of a kind and I like the heavy laser but don't want to be totally dependant on them.

What are you using that makes this guy a level 3 design? Just the Super Charger? What other mechs are you putting in a star with it? There is nothing bad about the design past the heat, but some observations are as follows.



One of the big advantages of the Clans has always been their range. This mech can't hit past the range of a 3020s large laser, which negates that advantage. The HLL and ERMLs have basically the same range brackets. If you fire them together you are in serious trouble. I would really suggest playing with weapons brackets if you want to go with a high heat design.

The last thing is price. You have a second line mech with all the gadgets out there construction wise, minus Endo, and a price tag that shows it.

I'm posting a "similar" design I hacked together out of a Stormcrow. My version uses a standard MASC in place of a SC, but if you wanted to go back up to level three you can easily switch back to the super charger. Mine has slightly less armor, is lighter, but significantly cheaper. I do use Endo which adds maintenance and sophistication, but in my mind that is balanced by the fact that I drop a TC and SC. As for other equipment, an ERPPC backed by 6 ERMLs give the bracket fire ability I mentioned earlier, and more manageable heat. I loose the TC accuracy, but my weapon choices are more accurate in general, so this is a wash in most situations.

What about a design to stiffen the star along the lines of an Ursus 2? Below is a design similar to your Bruno, but made to be much cheaper while also being more durable.

This version is lighter, and slower, but the Improved JJs give it the same jumping range as the original, and with the SC it is at the low end of your speed target. The weapons load, SC, and TC are all there, but this version carries a pair of extra heat sinks. The armor is slightly thinner, but durability wise this is more then made up for by the use of a SFE. The SFE switch also drops the price by a huge amount. You can basically few two of these for the price of one of yours.
