Ok so heres the background I get 5 mechs ( clan ) useing advanced rule set 3050 - 3067
1 must be a light scout type, 1 must be assualt class, the others all mediums - no heavys
what I am looking for in the assault is the maximum amount of damage per ton that can be had with walk speed 3-4
on the scout light end something that in therory can sneak in use tag & or narc, for long range missile / artillery
then with the mediums mechs that can survive to the end.

i am looking into a variant on the dasher, and a variant on the dashi, then maybe shadowcat variant x3 ?

opposition will have 6-8 mechs with at least 2 assault mechs...

Puma, Adder, Blackhawk, Loki and a Thor.

Simple easy, pick the variants you want and go have fun, suggest taking variants that can cover each of the designs so as not to leave gaps in ranges.

so I guess - the what i get to work with - 1 light 1 assault and 3 mediums ( NO HEAVIES ) failed to be relized- 2 lights 2 heavys and a medium !!!
any other sugestions???

Any chance of some more information ?, i.e what Clan are you ?, canon designs only ? etc.

my self, when I use my Clan forces I play Clan Ghost Bear, so ...Dasher D, Black Hawk A / C / P, & Gladiator D, so there's a light, medium & assault star for you just mix numbers to suit your needs.

Here is one I use occasionally.
Kodiak, Stromcrow Prime, Stormcrow'B', Viper'A', Dasher'A' (Not much armament but got TAG and Active Probe).

normally I would use a clan novacat force
but in this instance its just mercenary forces so this is a configuration
Kodiak 5
Stormcrow'B'
Nova Prime
Wolverine WVR-8K
Fire Moth Config. A -repalce the ssrm4 with 4 er med lasers

Mercs with Clan mechs?

why not...they could be working for the dark caste. they could be hired by some government/mighty corporation/influential noble to do some dirty work or whatever said employer does not want to be connected to. the could have been extremely lucky.

what about this: a spherer likes the mechs he sees at his clan oponent and has a certain understanding for clan culture, he challenges the clan starcommander for a"trial of possession".
they bid down to a hand to hand combat. spherer wins with extreme luck. since then he has had to fend of about 3 dozen trials of posession from angry clanners that want the mechs back.

Sure thing...and next week we will see mercs building warships and taking out an entire Clan to do so...

The hard thing about this setup is the speed range. It is easy to leave the assault behind. How about something like a Fire Falcon, Black Lanner, Kraken(LRM version), and two medium bruisers like a Nova and Storm Crow?
