some time ago there was a discussion about weapons a mech could carry like a soldier carries a rifle, so the weapons could be thrown away/be exchanged etc.
when a mech can handle a mechsized rifle/blaster etc. why not mechsized tools/equipment?

the following list of ideas is what came to my mind in a rather short time, i guess there is more ideas.
-mine-pick, imagine a large needleshaped spear with wich the mech could poke the ground to let mines detonate at a safe distance, also usefull as a melee weapon.
-metal detector, a mechsized metal-detector that would be helpfull whenever some metal has to be detected under the surface.
-mech shovel, whenever some digging has to be done

Don't some of the "Dark Age" pseudo-mechs use this concept with their tools?

Hand held weapons some designs in the Prototypes Tech Readout they are used as a poor mans omnimech.
