I can see these in many militia groups or merc units. Very easy to keep running and do not go overboard on anything.

i gave them DHS, mainly because i had to compensate the lack of in-engine HS, and also because i think that DHS are mainly sacrificing compactness for Efficiency, there is no reason why a low-tech world could not be able to produce them.

I like the idea of "retro" equipment being the militia baseline. It is hard to get the right behavior and flavor out of the tech.




This is an old thought, but I think it fits your line of thinking. What do you think about handheld gunpods/weapons? No need for fusion, and heat is not an issue since the heat sinks are built in. Maybe with TSM/Industrial TSM in the mix?

Just a thought.
