==Overview:==
The Warwolf is primarily designed to perform reconnaissance missions deep
behind enemy lines. As the forward scouts of any battle group or force they
typically range far ahead of the main battle and operate in pairs in order to
cover more ground and defend against any enemy units they might encounter. In
major engagements they prefer to operate on the flanks and seek out "soft"
targets such as enemy infantry and enemy armor units, against which their
lighter weapons can be used to their advantage.

What made you go with paired Plasmas here over something with less ammo dependency? As is I see it more as an updated Firestarter in the anti-conventional role. It doesn't have the speed, sensors, or staying power to make a top flight scout in my opinion, but a switched weapon or two could improve several of those categories.

Going with the idea that it could leave a burning wake in it's path as it ran in and did its' damage and the Plasma weapons seemed like a good idea since the Flamer is to short of range, and the Plasma weapon sounds like a good in-between solution.

I can buy the Plasmas being used as a longer range Flamer to cause chaos. I'm going to play your version and see if the speed really gets me in trouble.

Here is my hodgepodge version. Same basic mech with a few changes, and revamped weapons.. Light FF, and TSM replace the standard versions of each. The switch in building materials doesn't give a protection increase, but does give the running boost of TSM to let my version cover more range, even in fires while banking a bit of tonnage for other modifications. Weapons are a big change. Instead of paired MGs and Plasmas I have four different weapons. A Snubbie and ER Flamer combo in one arm give better staying power due to their lack of ammo. The other arm keeps the Plasma, now with double the effective ammo, and a SPL to keep some of the infantry. One side torso CASE is dropped due to the consolidation of the Plasma ammo. Finally the extra DHS is dropped with a Beagle Active Probe replacing it.

My version ends up a somewhat faster, with more staying power and better sensors in exchange for being more expensive, and having a mismatch of weapons to deal with.

Interesting, I like your changes, good for a variant or "new" version that could come along over time. The overall role didn't change and the price is more but the cost is covered though.

I could definitely see my variant being a later addition with more bells and whistles. I can also see my version, or one with a Guardian switched for the Beagle being a lance commander, or less common version of the base mech as you laid it out.

I'm not sold on the composite structure, but I like the idea.


I have always liked the idea of of multiple models working off the same chassis/engine. It doesn't always make sense to run a lance of the exact same mech model, but it does make sense to run mechs with high parts compatibility together to ease logistics. Heck, I've been known to build companies and battalions based on a small handful of engine models when I'm bored.
