It is like a Catapult on steroids. What made you go with the LRM 10s?

I mean why 4 LRM 10 packs over 2 20 packs? The multiple launchers does increase your arc of fire versus slightly lighter heat for the bigger launchers. Just curious on your thought process.

the weight is identical, however the 4 10s have 8 crits, the two 20s have 10 crits

And I get more shots per ton, and less chance of losing a launcher when damage happens, thus sticking around a bit longer.

the shots are also identical.
it is 12 shots per ton for the 10s and
6 shots per ton for the 20s
so the number of missiles is identical.
the distribution into four parts, instead of two, makes sense.

One good reason? Statistically more launchers is more likely to hit for SOME damage sooner, even though the average damage is the same.

Multiple 'chances' to hit do all sorts of funky things to the odds. See what happens when you replace a streak-6 with a trio of streak-2... or as I like to call it, the ultra-light snub-nosed rotary AC/2.

--edit-- or you could just fluff it away; pissing off the official writers of the past decade and a half by dragging out "Objective Raids". The MOST hated book amongst TPTB.

Objective Raids was an amazing book, it allowed my group to come up with some interesting backstories for our battles and really had us enjoying that we know had some idea what was made where and which planets where important to the Houses etc...the book needs to be updated and expanded.
