Post subject: | new challenge based on old comic |
ok I was looking through some old files from a portable hard drive and found a web comic I downloaded called 'real life' where a character built a battlemech. fun little story but what caught my attention was the weapons layout described. Quote: I've got 2 gauss riffles, 2 PPC's, LRM 20's in each pod and some large pulse lasers..... just in case http://reallifecomics.com/comic.php?comic=title-406made me wonder is such a configuration possible with that many heavy weapons? so i gave it a try and this is the result Quote: BattleMech Technical Readout

Depending on the need, I would say it looks great but faulty one regard, you can't fire things in any good grouping, either you fire half then wait to cool down or you pick the L Pulses and the Gauss Rifles and save the ER PPCs for those up close shots or better still get rid of them. Now I am not saying this needs to be an alpha striker machine, but it needs something to go on as far a logical fire pattern, cause the LRMs are pointless if you fire the ERPPCs are all and they are just there for show. Again looks really tough and nasty but fails every check for even a basic assault mech, it can't even use half of it's weapons effectively. Suggest dropping the ERPPCs and the LRM20s at the most. Then use the gained tonnage for more Heat Sinks, LRM10s w'ArtIV and go that route. |

If the loadout is a must i think the only half-possible way would be a superheavy. a 360xxl engine 120 tons with a 3/4 mobility and all free crits filled with DHS. if i do not miscalculate i get to 35 DHS for the mech. Endosteel with 2 free crits and 10 tons of armor |
