First off let me just say I know Boogatti is not the spelling of the car company Bugatti. The version I am using is the online handle of the person who drew the artwork that inspired this tank.

Give credit where credit is due. One of my favorite art websites in Concept Tanks. I found the artwork for this tank there and a link to the site where Boogotti posted the artwork originally. http://www.polycount.com/forum/showthread.php?t=60979.

This tank is for my own BT universe. In my BT universe BattleMechs cost 10 times the standard TechManual formula. Fusion-powered vehicles have a multiplier x3. The idea is to help explain the relative scarcity of BattleMechs.

==Background==
The argument for or against infantry carriers hauling a complete infantry platoon has raged for centuries. Both sides of the argument have been ascendant numerous times; today, however neither side appears to be stronger than the other. Carriers for a single squad or two squads are common among mechanized planetary defense organizations. Among frontline corps, defined as those responsible primarily for offensive operations, platoon-size carriers appear to be common, but squad carriers are found too. In fact the two types are frequently mixed together down to even the company level. The Boogotti Corporation of Skye is known widely for its high quality luxury vehicles but is a top-flight armored vehicle manufacturer too. Boogotti makes both types of infantry carriers but by far their best seller is the Tigre, a deft combination of space, firepower and armor.

==Capabilities==
As an infantry platoon carrier the Tigre is a large vehicle built around the infantry compartment. The Tigre looks like a boat hull with tracks bolted to the sides, which isn’t all that far from the truth. The original design brief included an amphibious requirement that was later dropped. The design is also necessary to provide the unobstructed volume needed for a complete infantry platoon. The compartment is laid out to accommodate up to 30 fully equipped foot soldiers with plenty of room to spare for storage. The bay is large enough to allow relatively easy movement within when full of soldiers.

The Tigre’s array of firepower is a minimalist affair but do not assume it is weak; a single salvo of bolts from the twin large lasers can cripple. The secondary armament consists of an anti-missile system and a Short-Range AC/3 class autocannon, which is intended primarily for anti-infantry and light anti-vehicle work. [Design Note: the SR AC/3 is simply 3 light MGs linked with a MG array.] All weapon systems are mounted in a remotely operated turret. The turret is literally bolted to the roof of the vehicle and other than power and network connections does not penetrate the hull. This was necessary for the unobstructed infantry compartment. The turret has one unusual feature; it can extend upwards up to 1.5 meters thanks to a hydraulic lift system. Designers were forced to place the turret near the rear of the vehicle to balance the mass of the engine at the forward end. This placement limits the depression of the main weapon. The hydraulic system solves the problem.

Armor protection is good but not a standout compared to other infantry carriers in the Tigre’s weight class. Another interesting feature of the Tigre is the inclusion of a CASE unit. All ammunition for the vehicle’s turret mounted weapons is located in the turret and therefore not necessary. The CASE is intended for ordnance the infantry use. The CASE is accessible from within the vehicle.

The vehicle’s mobility is good. As a tracked vehicle there is little terrain it cannot tackle and its speed profile allows it to keep up with most armored columns. However, cavalry units will most likely outrun it if given free reign.

==History & Deployment==
The Tigre has been in continuous production for nearly a century. It is found primarily in LCAF mechanized infantry units. However, like many Skye based companies Boogotti will sell to most anyone with the cash to buy. Many see the Tigre as a status symbol as much as a combat vehicle thanks to its fusion engine, high quality manufacturing and Boogotti’s reputation in the sports and luxury car market. As a consequence it is sought after by many noble household guards and more affluent mercenary units. One of the most recent new purchases are the notorious Hogan’s Guards, AKA the HoGs. Colonel Hogan purchased enough to convert their entire infantry battalion.

Here is a TRO of a potential mechanized infantry platoon carried by the Tigre. The Tigre is fusion powered so I think it is logical for the infantry carried to use laser weapons and reduce its logistics tail.
