==Overview:==
The Overloard was on the drawing board at Royal Manufacturing Industry for
many years, it was one of those projects that was never going to get off that
drawing board. Then came the Clans, and the rush to get any and every machine
in the hands of the Inner Sphere militaries was on. The engineers at Royal
Manufacturing Industry rushed the Overloard into production, cutting corners
and pushing the limits on what they could get away with.

The original craft carried many different weapons and cargo. Then in 3058 new
weapons appeared and new dreams came to be, the craft was revisted and the
ability to carry several new and what was felt to be effective weapons were
mounted, along with an impressive PR campaign showing the Overloard in combat
against Clan raiders, pirates and Inner Sphere rouge units. Many merc units
were convinced to purchase these VTOLs and many are still in service.

The issues with the Overloard came to a head during the opening days of WoBs'
infamous Jihiad. The use of truely untested weapons cost many militia units
the opening battles of the war. As well as catching many mercs unprepared for
the lackluster showing. By the time these failing as well as electrical issues
with in the craft it self came to be known, something the WoB culture groups
who seemed to be every where showing the failings of the former rulers of each
world they "freed", almost cost the Royal Manufacturing Industry everything
they had every made, but seeing that they could gain something from this
misfortuntion the WoB stepped in and "fixed" the issues with the Overloard,
which has led some to suggest that the issues were part of a WoB conspisary
from the start. No matter the actual facts, "liberated" Royal Manufacturing
Industry factories began building Overloards once more which were "fixed" and
able to preform their intented roles as gunship support and air recon. By wars
end the number of Overloard VTOLs found in and around the Sol System as well
local systems bordering Terra, made it a common sight.

Many law suits followed the war, bring the Royal Manufacturing Industry in
foreclosure and ruin.

I understand the quest to cram the most stuff into the smallest space (that's what SHE said!) but man, that XL in that thin armor looks awful expensive and fragile. Big guns for its size, though.

I follow your point about cost and fragile but that is part of the boondoggle that is this vehicle.
