Inspired by a desire to not to spend a night on Facebook I decided to do something creative instead. Based loosely on a real 21st century recon vehicle, which probably isn't as expensive as mine. The other variants will follow when I have the time again, the fluff took longer than I expected.

==Overview:==
This very expensive family of Vehicles was commissioned by the Republic in
anticipation of a treaty in which numbers of tanks and tonnages would be
restricted. The treaty negotiations dragged on for years and was never signed
before the chaos of the Dark Age when less than 600 had been made.
In 2990 needing a replacement for aging tracked recon tanks the Republic
tendered many companies to produce new vehicles but the anticipated treaty
forced the designers to head for quality. Unfortunately the many revisions to
the treaty mutated the design. The Republic finally ordered the tank when
the the numbers and weight restrictions were no longer getting less during
negotiations and the government could no longer ignore the old vehicles that
were falling apart and the lobbyists voices were heard, but the treaty still
dragged on.
Called the Scout Specialist Vehicle during the design stage several variants
were made on the same hull with different turrets.
The name Ajax was given to the versions with the biggest turrets which had
largely same profile. The smaller turreted Ares APC version plus several
support versions.
==Deployment==
The Ajax AX-GBR (Ground Based Surveillance) was designed for independant long
range patrol. It was fitted with sophisticated sensors and given thick armor.
Crewed only by elite recon teams it gave it the entire Ajax program a
legendary status beyond the actual impact it had strategically as so few were
made. It's detractors said it passed every test except numbers. It was the
rarest Ajax variant with only 24 made.
