That's one of my three beefs with most canon designs:
1. Too many different weapons and ammo requirements.
2. A lack of armor.
3. Excessive cargo space (come on, are these WarShips or Freighters?).
Now, Medron, to your specific points--my Alaska doesn't have a great number of weapons. Too much tonnage had to be sacrificed to achieve a safe thrust of 4. However, I used a Texas as inspiration. Compared to a Texas, I think the armament is about the same (in numbers, at least, as well as a mix of NAC, PPC, and missile launchers).
Now, I have discussed this class on other boards, and with a safe thrust of 4, I probably should have changed the arc of the nose and aft Heavy N-PPCs to the broadside arc. As others have argued, with this ships thrust, it should be able to bring broadsides to bear, and four AR-10 launchers can keep most fighters from getting a free ride against the the nose or stern hex.
So, after having heard the criticisms, I give you the Alaska 2.0.

==Overview:==
In 2756, the Star League Defense Force issued a request for a competive bid
for a new battlecruiser. Krester Ship Construction submitted a new ship
design based in large part upon the Texas class battleship. This new
design--tenatively designated the Alaska--featured heavy armor protection
(just like the Texas) and a moderate array of naval autocannons, naval PPCs,
and AR-10 missile launchers, This ship was quite different, however, in that
Krester managed to attain a thrust equal to that of a Lola III destroyer--in a
ship nearly twice the mass. After extensive computer modeling and
simulations, the SLDF accepted Krester's design in early 2759.
==Capabilities:==
Alaska class ships featured a maximum acceleration of 3-g's on a 1.2 million
ton frame--a feat of engineering never since equalled. Almost 1,700 tons of
lamellar ferro-carbide armor gave the ship protection that rivaled that of the
Texas class Battleship, and dwarfed any other ship in existence--even that of
the famed McKenna.
Four docking collars were provided--fewer than SLDF battleships, but equal to
most cruisers--as were eighteen aerospace fighters and four small craft. To
add to the rapid response capability of the Alaska, a lithium-fusion battery
was added to the design and--in a first for the Star League--a hyper-pulse
generator was installed to allow for interstellar communications.
Designed for the outset as a flagship, a secondary bridge was provided for a
flag officer and his staff, while two 135-meter diameter grav decks allowed
the crew to maintain physical fitness during long deployments. 200 Marines
were embarked, and the design could include up to 165 passengers (fewer if a
flag officer and his staff were aboard) in reasonable comfort. Over 14,000
tons of fuel tankage provided sufficient reserves for a year's deployment,
along with food, water, and life support for the same period.
Critics of the design found no fault with any of the features listed above.
Indeed, those aspects of the ship were lauded. The critics were most
concerned with the light armament of the design. Twenty-four Heavy NPPC's in
six batteries of four (arranged one per each of the quarter arcs and one per
broadside arc) provided the main long-range weapons. Twelve Maelstrom AR-10
capital missle launchers (in batteries of two) with thirty capital missiles
each gave the class its only anti-fighter capacity. These bays were placed
fore, aft, and in each of the four quarters of the ship.
Finally, eight NAC-35 heavy naval autocannons were installed, in four bays of
two (in the quarters arcs of fire). Each NAC was given a supply of 50 rounds
stored in heavily armored magazines. Sufficient double-strength heat sinks
were installed to allow the Alaska class ships to fire all weapons
simultaneously.
Many detractors of the design argued this armament was less than that carried
by the Black Lion--a design almost 400,000 tons lighter than the proposed
Alaska. Regardless of the criticisms, the initial six ships of the class were
laid down in 2759, though further examples were placed on hold until the
prototypes could be field-tested.
==Battle History:==
The Liberation of Terra was the only battle in which Alaska class ships
participated. Leading the remnants of the Rim Worlds fleet into battle, the
Alaska's were outnumbered fifty-to-one and gravely outgunned. Despite the
odds, the six stolen Star League vessels destroyed ninteen of their sisters
before they were themselves destroyed.
==Variants:==
No variants of the Alaska class were ever designed or constructed.

==Deployment==
The Amaris Coup ended the career of the Alaska class before it could really
begin. The first six ships of the class (SLS Alaska, SLS Hawaii, SLS Guam,
SLS Puerto Rico, SLS Samoa, and SLS Phillipine Islands) were captured by the
Rim Worlds forces when Krester's shipyards were taken in the first days of the
Coup.
It took six months, but by mid-2768, two Alaska class ships (Alaska and
Hawaii) had been completed and commissioned into the Rim Worlds Navy. By the
time that Kerensky and the SLDF launched the operation to retake Terra, all
six of these ships were in service with their foe.
As the most modern ships in the Rim Navy, Stefan Amaris refused to allow these
ships to deploy outside of the Terran system. As such, their first combat was
their last, as they fought the SLDF attempting to defend Terra from Kerensky.
After the Exodus, ComStar conducted a survey of ships remaining in the Terra
system in order to established which could be restored and repaired and which
should be scrapped for parts and materials. Two Alaska class ships were
deemed recoverable, and were painstakingly restored to their original designs.
As with the other ships of ComStar's Fleet, these vessels were placed in
moth-balls as ComStar attempted to maintain a low profile and delude the Great
Houses as to its true military strength.
During the Schism, both Alaska class ships were stolen by the Word of Blake.
Since the dawn of the Jihad, neither has yet to be seen.

Still only three weapon systems, but the arrangement better fits the ships purpose. Let me know what you think.
