My latest iteration of this concept: an assault dropship designed specifically to support warships in fighting formation. It serves as a tug, escort, picket ship against fighters and missiles, and as a heavy boarding craft. It also makes for a potent jumpship escort when needed. Enjoy.

==Overview:==
The Catcheur (French: "Wrestler") is an assault tug dropship built in the
Astral Republic. Its design is related in concept to the SLDF's Model 96
"Elephant" dropship, but whereas the Elephant was a hybrid landing craft, the
Catcheur is designed purely for space duties. The Catcheur is expensive, but
this is largely viewed as a necessary evil, one of the few drawbacks of an
otherwise excellent design.
==Capabilities:==
The Catcheur is a spheroid dropship with an efficient cylinder hull and a
towing adapter on its blunt nose. Its four powerful drives provide 4 G's max
thrust. Six months of fuel are carried to match the endurance of most RMF
warships.
The Catcheur is armed for escort and picket duties, usually in the company of
a warship. An efficient array of ERPPC's and LPL's projects firepower in all
directions. AMS bays and four flank mounted screen launchers provide active
defense, and enable the Catcheur to run interference when necessary.
The Catcheur's carried assets include a fighter squadron and shuttle flight,
and a marine battle armor company for boarding actions. To board, the Catcheur
has three options; it can use its shuttles, dock with its target, or try to
grapple its target with its towing adapter. The last option is dangerous and
requires careful maneuvering, but is spectacular when it succeeds.
The Catcheur is armored like a true assault craft; its nose can stop a direct
hit from a NAC/40! This is doubly important since the Catcheur is a tug, and
therefore routinely operates at very close ranges where bumps and collisions
are likely.
The Catcheur is expensive to a flaw, but its worst flaw is the stress endured
by its crew. Catcheur crews work long hours, but only achieve 80% of the
maintenance required for their complex ships, making regular shipyard
overhauls necessary. Catcheur crews are also well aware that if the worst
comes, they might be sacrificed to save a warship. The RMF takes these stress
issues seriously, and addresses them with extra hazard pay and doubled crew
rotations.
==Battle History:==
During the Jihad, Catcheurs were mostly used as picket ships to protect the
RMF's warships from swarms of capital missiles and fighters. Several Catcheurs
were lost, but thanks to their sacrifice, the RMF's warships survived to
avenge their losses against the Word of Blake. The Catcheurs also did
significant damage in their own right, particularly by shooting up Blakist
fighter squadrons, dueling with pocket warships, and sowing chaos with
boarding actions.
==Deployment==
Most RMF warships routinely carry a Catcheur for boarding, escort and tug
support duties.
Catcheurs also may "ride shotgun" with lesser vessels when armed escorts are
needed, but warships are overqualified for the task, such as when there is an
elevated threat of piracy. This saves the RMF's warships for more important
duties.
Catcheurs are also assigned to the Astral Republic's space stations and
shipyards, where they serve for both tug support and local defense.
