Doesn't have the thrust I think you really need to deal with thrust-8 turbines, but with this firepower, you don't worry 'bout all your guns hitting the same armor location, and you might have the armor to live a few turns with blown initiative rolls.

that package might not be that unaffordable when it is the spear-head for an invasion.
the bomb-load could be air-air missiles.

"Bomb load" is the source of all of my pain: External Fuel sound wonderful, until you remember you want to be thrust-11 (the pre-hardbound number) to move two "hexes" on the Radar Map; Then, you have this quest to have a +3 Initiative bonus when facing thrust-8 turbines.

After all that, you worry if you can splash one tango per turn, and you wonder how many will be behind you, ergo issues with armor weight and placement …

I have decided ASFs this fast are more interested with raw armor points then a bonus against energy weapons, as lasers are few'n far between in the chosen work environment …

this might mean that it makes a lot of sense to transport a fighter near its target, so you do not need external fuel,
then you could transport an Air-Air missile that you will fire towards the enemy as soon as an enemy is in sight, that way you will never have to go into a dogfight with any external payload.
and finally you could be picked up for return.

PS: my range extender could also be used as a tanker with two internal tanks of 30 tons each and a refueling device. but then you would need a lot of fighters around it.
