Is this design allowable ?, & if so is it workable ?.

A Heavy (recon) ECCM Battle Suit I can see it's use if not for recon then for counter ECM work in built-up areas. What do you all think ? Thanks.

I like the idea, it give a lot tactical flexibility to commanders and can be a big surprise to an enemy when their RC-IEDs and other electronics don't work...nice job.

I like it. But, IIRC, I think you can only use one ECM at a time, whether it is in ECM or ECCM mode. I think you could probably use that space for MG or something.

Cheers but that's why I'm asking as I'm not 100% sure if there has to be 2 ECM suites for ECCM mode to work ?.

No. A single ECM can be used for either, but only in one mode or the other and only one unit can be used at a time.

So you can use one ECM in supression or counter-supression, but the other ECM, even if working in another mode from the first, would have no effect.

On the other hand, I believe that two freindly units carrying ECM in proximity to one another, one working supression, the second working counter-supression, would be what you are looking for and is allowed, IIRC. And, as you are using Inner Sphere Battle Armor, maybe you might consider using one BA w/ECM in a Support suppression role, a second w/ECM in a Support counter-supression role, and the remaining squad members (2 - 4, depending on faction using this BA) carrying other weapons in the combat role?

That makes no sense, I work with ECM unit daily, ALL work at the same time weather or not another unit is doing the same job or a different one give that each unit can be setup for passive or active or both. So really the folks coming up with the rules dropped the ball on this one just as they been all along with ECM. Given the amount of data out there on how ECMs work one would think that they would not have a such moronic, and yes I am calling the rule set up moronic, rule that prevents what is comply done by real world military units. And I do not see a play issue or an extra set of dice rolling added to anything here to upset play balance. So maybe they need to update the ECM section of the rules and join the rest of us in the 21st Century.

Is it just me, or is this a great anti-Wobbie unit? For some reason I get a feeling that it would be developed out of the GDL armor series for some reason. Maybe deployed by what is left of the AMC? Just a fluff thought.

As for the rules I agree with the guys above. As the rules read the extra ECM is just dead weight to carry around, but that does not make any sense. Go with how you designed it and house rule ECM across the board accordingly.

Interesting idea, a Battle Armor version of the Angel ECM would be useful. Is there a rule that says all the ECM in a Battle Armor squad have to be doing the same job :-? you could have half the squad switched to ECM and the others ECCM :undecided:

I thought it read something like to get the benefit of the ECM all units in the squad/point must be so equipped, but I might be smoking crack. I always took it as all the baby Battle Armour scale ECMS work in concert and can approximate a single full size ECM battlefield wise.
