I did the Sub Capital weapons for HMAero. I get problems when trying to add a lot of custom weapons to a design in HMAero though.

This design loads but I get a message that the file is corrupt. If I add some more custom weapons PPCs start to get Artemis IV and other weird stuff :crazy:

Is there a way I can add my custom weapons folders as downloadable attachments, I seem to have a problem with the file extentions :-?

Not really. Files with the weapons in should work, though.

I have tried to enter all the equipment that I could from Tactical Operations (the TechManual weapons should still be included). Not everthing will be 100% correct, BV could come out wrong with the PPC Capacitors and it will be wrong with things like the Void-Signature System and Chameleon Light Polarization Shield and the cost will be way off with a Ground-Mobile HPG. But you can play around and see if the ideas you have for a design will work, then if cost and BV are important dig out a calculator :)

If I have missed anything or if anyone has found a better way of entering the equipment (I am not really happy with my solution for the Void-Signature System) share your ideas :) There are very few available slots left for Inner Sphere equipment though, so adding things like physical weapons for each weight class could be difficult. Goose may have ideas for getting around this :-?

Whats the best way to input BA Mechanical Jump Boosters to HMBA ?, as they take no crit spaces (as I would use the already allocated space that come with HMBA's BA jump jets) - Yet HMBA will not allow me to input 0 space(s) & the weight is 2 x Jump Jet weight. ?

Any ideas will be great.

I know I could just leave them off and use the jump jets but I would like to show them (even if just as the extra weight, but it's the no (extra) crit space which is stumping me on this to be honest.

I don't remember, but it could easily be not everything you hoped for is in them files (and it'll be great fun checking into it).

There's also the outside chance you are running an older version of HMP: We once had an issue where Rick thought there could be about 110 custom weapons in a file, but really there could only be ~41 . . .

My problem is that many of the new mechs are not in the program, so I have been trying to add some of them. But their are certain things I can't seem to do yet. :sad:

I can't figure out improved jump jets.

I can't mate an artemis to a MML (or a PPC capacitor to a snub nose).

Any sugestions?? :embarrased:

Improved jump jets are available if you design with level 3 rules.

Did you download the TacOps Weapons.zip in my previous post, that has PPC Capacitors for each type of PPC included. I can not remember if I fixed the MML to work with Artemis IV before or after I posted the file :crazy: If they are not working with Artemis IV open custom weapons and edit them. I think the LMG and HMG are still missing.

I did download it, I installed it to my heavy metal pro file. I then went and unzipped the files. But my program seems unchanged??

Do I need to look somewhere special for improved jum jets?

Set to rule level 3 and look on the Armor & Structure 'page' and set the jump jet type drop down to improved jump jet,

:doh: What cha' do is put the files into the "main" subirectory for the program you want to use them in: For example, I'd have to place them in "D:\Program Files (x86)\HeavyMetal\Vee" if I wanted to use them with tanks, 'cause I tend not to install things on my C: drive, and, being a Windows 7-64 box, I have to put "older" 32-bit programs in this separate "Program Files" subdirectory.

Huh? Strictly speaking, there is no "open custom weapons" thingie: You ether start the custom weapons editor and do something interesting, or else you just mount weapons on a design (though you might have to play with the Rules Level dropdown to see what you are looking for) . . .

Remember, Custom Weapons will always be found at the BOTTOM of the weapon selection listing, and will be marked with an asterisk (Death Ray 200*). And of course, you need to select whatever Rules Level they are entered as.

Also note that Clan Custom weapons or IS Custom weapon do not seem to carry over for mixed tech mechs, or so has been my experience.

Along the top of the HMPro window there is an icon with two missiles a shell and lightning bolt, if you hover the mouse over it will say view custom weapons screen. Click on this and you will be able to see all the custom weapons edit them and add your own.

Custom Weapons for HMVee, pretty much the same files as for HMPro but I have set some equipment as deleted if its not compatible with vehicles and changed the plasma weapons, ammo for them is now a separate item.

Custom weapons for HMAero, there are two versions of the Sub-Capital Cannons and Lasers. The versions ending with "DS" are for DropShips and are actually Capital Missiles but I think this works better for the record sheet, radar damage chart and crew requirements. The only real problem is with the Light SSC-DS*, its ammo is double weight.

Well, it's mostly the people that don't want other people to use HeavyMetal that push that particular issue, saying that there is no reason to use a program that you have to navigate a confusing forum to find hacks to make it work, when you could just download a free program to do it all. They also used to push the issue that HM couldn't be used to make the designs from the recent TROs too. You know...until they got made and uploaded to P.R.I. for anybody to use...

Hello all, I've downloaded your custom weapons files and dropped them both into my ProgramFiles/HMAero folder. Rules set to level 3...no joy. Am I missing a step?

Hey all, I just bought HMAero and am trying to put the custom weapon files in. I dropped them both (IS and Clan) into my programfiles/HMAero folder, I've set it to level 3. I'm not seeing any new custom weapons. Am I missing a step? Thanks in advance.

Er: Which files, again? While HMP will share with HMV, all the other programs are still too young to share with each other. :crazy:

By default, Leon's zip appears to create a "HMAero Custom Weapons" folder in the folder it's unzipped to. Move the two files contained within it to the Aero folder, and it will work.

I'm stuck, I drop both .dat files, is-custa.dat and cl-custa.dat in my HMAero folder. Alongside files like the .exe and CREWS.WAR and engine.dat.

I've repeated this exercise a few times now, no joy. No new weapons pop up under level 3 rules. I go to the custom weapons editor screen and see nothing different there either (not sure if you should or not, just sharing info). I can see my existing custom weapons that I made personally, but nothing else.

I'm running windows 7 64-bit (home edition I think?) I didn't do anything unusual/special when installing HMAero. It's worked fine from the get-go on a standard install.

Any ideas appreciated.

That IS odd. It should REPLACE the custom weapons you made. They should be GONE.

It suggests to me that maybe you have two installations of the program or it is running from another directory or something and you put into the "wrong" directory, whichever that one is...
