Hi,

Have just recieved my copy of Heavy Metal Map (Thanks Rick :D ). I have busied myself with playing with it all day.

I have a question though, when water meets an elevated hex (lets say, level 4 height meets depth 3 water). The lakes beach effect encroaches under the cliff effect of the land hex. So I get a strange looking edge.

I originally had the error with land-land elevation too, but changing the options in the graphics tab to Draw Elevation Level Graphics Over Terrain Graphics solved this.

DO I have to disable the lake edging somehow, or is there an option I'm missing?

Cheers,
Wanallo

Well, terrain level level change "cliffs" draw over top of lake "beach" graphics. They won't completely cover the beach graphics, due to the shape, but me experience is that the result usually looks okay. Apparently yours doesn't, though. Can you post a small graphic of the effect, and we'll take a look? I'm posting what I come up with, and I don't think it's too bad.

Here is the issue I am refering to.

To be honest, the problem isn't really that bad, I just wanted to make sure I was producing the best possible quality map before I pay to get them printed :D

Overall the quality of the program is really excellent. I have only had it a couple of days and the ease of adding my own gif graphics is proving far too tempting :)

That may well be an anomoly that will, just, happen. It's hard to design cliff edges and such to cover every possible situation. I could if I kept them more straight hex sides, but then things would look too, uh, hexxy. ;-)

Well, remember that you're going to probably be saving the maps to a JPG file before paying to have them printed. So just load them up in your Paint program and touch up the areas that are not to your liking.

Don't resist the temptation. It was a ball creating all the graphics, and doing your own and adding is just far too much fun to avoid.

Cheers Rick.

For some reason I didn't think about touching them up afterwards! (Dumbass)

I really like the cliffs and other touches, they give it a much more complete feel. Me and my 'Tech partner have in the past hand drawn most of our maps. So we often have taken a little artisitic license with our terrain too.

I spent a few hours last night convering Company of Heroes buildings into .GIF's. I was trying to get a rustic feel to a few farms. Overall its worked reasonably well, just need to touch them up a little more as the high res models don't like the reduction in quality when converting. :D

But it is really addictive, especially with how simple it is to install them to the program.

Thanks for the quick replies!

Wanallo
