Maybe I forgot how to modify in Aero, but I'm trying to turn a Union Drop ship into a aero carrier. But I can't change anything.

Go to Armor, Crew & Cargo tab.
Go to Bays & Doors subtab.

Change at will. :)

Here is a carrier version of the Union I created for my Human Sphere universe back in the day. Hehehe.

==Overview:==
Another part of Jeffrey Calderon's Taurian Rearmament Program, the Union T
AssaultShip is designed to fly with Super Leopards and keep up with them. 
Carrying a wing of fighters and sporting a single naval missile launcher in
the bow, the standard Union T AssaultShip can easily support a major invasion
force.  The only recognized refit of the Union T AssaultShip removes the
fighter bays and replaces them with a large naval laser.  Capable of directly
damaging large ships, it is often used in close support during large naval
actions.

The crew quarters have been expanded as normal for Taurian ships, and extra
crew facilities added, but Taurian crews on this ship must work more hours
than on other ships.  Still, the Union T AssaultShip is a good ship and can
easily keep them alive if cared for correctly.

That would work greatr. Just need 3060 so I'd change the :
12 Light ER PC*
6 HV AC/5 (THB)
6 ELRM-20 (THB)

to AC 5 and LRM and normal Er PPC

I'm still trying. Think there's a PEBAK (problem exists between keyboard and chair)

OK, here is a version I came up with using the original 3,500 Union as a base, making it a single fighter squadron carrier, giving it heavy weapons, and heavy armor, and better mobility.
