I posted this question under a different topic, and now I can't find it (serves me right).

Would it be feasible for you guys to e-mail registered users when there is a new update, and maybe to also include with that a list of what that update does...

Also, no matter what I do to my profile, it always makes me check "show signature" in order to show it.

BTW, excellent choice of colors for the board, it really looks great!

Now that I have a more complete customer database, I intend to do several things with it. A newsletter is one. A player reference service is another, where a player can ask what other HM owners live in his/her area, and I'll send a listing of contacts.

Still getting caught up on stuff, like last night's posting of all new programs and data files, but once things settle down....

sounds good, but could be depressing if there happened to be no other users around your area!

Depressing, maybe, but then you probably already are if you can't find others to play with.

I have five customers in Cincinnatti, but I want to send out a general email to everyone about the program before I start doing it. Some people like their privacy. And I'll only do the lookup for requests sent to me by email for registered HM customers. I value their privacy as well.

I'll try to get some mailings going out there with this information on it and announce the start of the program.

Good luck finding any more B-Tech Players in Arcadia Fl. There's only five of us that I can find, and I trained 2 of 'em. (not too sure that too many people here can spell computer, not to mention use one.)

Well, it won't always work. I only have you and one other person in Arcadia, and I don't have his email address. But five players that play regularly aint that bad!

I would have though finding accurate counters would be the problem in Fla., not spellers... Just kidding, my mother and stepsister live in Fla, so I really can't throw too good a rock there.

Actually, I didn't envision a newsletter per se (although that'll also be nice), just a quick e-mail telling me, that a new patch for HMPro was out, and by the way, it'll do this for you....

and whatever you do, don't let Dragon Claw get you down. I've known him for awhile (work next to him too...) and I still stay upbeat.

Ummmm...Rick, about that other person in Arcadia, It's my old roomie. He's the one who got me hooked on your product. Showed me the web-page and now i'm trying to fill my hard drive with B-tech stuff. (I also married one of the two I helped teach.)

Well, that's exactly what I did last night (sent out a brief email to everyone that's bought HM products from me, telling them that Plus was available, that new updates had been posted and that I want to do the BattleTech Player Finder thing). Anyone that didn't get an email, I apparently don't have a valid email for you. A /bunch/ of them bounced back to me, so a lot of people have changed addys.

I have to travel across town to play (about 35 miles). My wife "understands" my need to play battletech, and generously lets me out to play. But there is "no way" she is playing a game that involves killing people.

I would say you are very lucky.

But see, that's one of the nice things: No one dies. Just these little pewter statues keep falling over, that's all. (But you do have to whisper the result when rolling a 12 for a critical hit to the head.)

No one dies in battletech! They just go to that big battleground in the sky and fight on!

Oh no....don't tell me politically correctness has made it's way into what I thought was the last bastion of total war! On that note, ever notice that ejection pods make a really neat 'popping' sound when stepped on?

I think that the newsletter is a great idea. Sometimes people forget to check important things like websites for updates and the like. The newsletter is a friendly reminder. I am also looking forward to the player search. I have an entire pile of BattleTech stuff, that I can do nothing with because no one else in my area freaking plays anymore.

Ok, then it's already being done. Great!

Rick, excellent product, keep up the good work. As I think of silly ideas, I'll post them.

Thanks archangel, out of the 4 message boards I frequent, you are the first to catch that.
Maybe once this member search thing is set up, I can actually start putting HMPro to good use again!

They are going to get around to showing the Dune mini series here (at last).

After having read all the books though - one though comes to mind.

They should have stoped after teh first one

Well. I did not want to condem them out of hand.

Now I can condem them from personal experience.

Well - That was the first two hours done with.

I think the problem is that the first third (half) of the book (the point where the prog finished last night) is not so interesting to be honest.

Have to wait until the fun starts next week.

Now - All I need are some Worm Construction Rules and I can have some fun.

HMW anybody?

hate to tell you this, but the mini-series doesn't get any better. it pretty much stays consistently boring throughout. in fact, i'm pretty sure we had more fun picking it apart than actually *watching* it, though of course, the one entails the other.
