I just sent out a brief newsletter to the HeavyMetalPro Yahoo! Group, but just in case you haven't joined yet (why not?), I'll post information about it here as well:

I've just posted a new program on the HeavyMetal Software web site, for free download, and thought you might want to know about it:

Okay, so it's not a /real/ HeavyMetal program. ;-) But it is fun, interesting and educational (in a BattleTech way) to use. Oh, and did I say it's FREE? I wrote HMArty to analyze artillery targets and damage patterns, to get a nice damage distribution, or concentrate damage, depending on the situation. You can choose the type of artillery and ammo, the gunnery skill, and then place your targets on a hex grid. The program will then randomly roll, as many times as you like, to determine if the intended artillery rounds hit the intended targets, and if they don't, the program determines the direction and distance of scatter. It then adds up the damage for all the hexes, and displays it in an attractive and informative way.

You can have a look at HMArty, including screen shots, by going to http://www.heavymetalpro.com/arty.htm , and of course you can download it and play around with it on your own computer. It uses some of the same basic runtime files that the HeavyMetal programs do, so if you have any of the HM programs installed, you will only need the single downloaded EXE. Just copy it to any location desired, and run it.

Oh, and if you haven't yet joined the Newsletter/Group, please do so. You can get more information, including a link to join, at: http://www.heavymetalpro.com/Newsletter.htm.
