Some fans like to talk about upcoming products from FanPro, and on CBT.com, its encouraged. I assume Rick supports it as well, since there's been no rules about not doing that here.

But Karagin brought up an interesting point: if some does want to talk about it, and they start a thread, are they treading on those who dislike where CBT and FanPro have gone post-FASA? Are they telling those dissenters -by opening a thread in support of an upcoming product- that they are wrong? Should we not openly support a future product if doing so will upset others?

For example: the TRO Vehicle Annex thread? Was this a wrong thing to start/discuss, since some people would rather see it not published? Same with Dawn of the Jihad?

People who are looking forward to these products and post about them: are they disrupting the board?

No one is forcing anyone to read or reply to things they don't want to talk about.

Just speaking for myself, if a topic falls within the posting guidelines then it's all good.

I agree. As long as it stays civil & within the rules of the forum. Its all good by me.

Absolutely not!

If it concerns CBT, people are very welcome to post. (And if it doesn't, and obeys the rules, there's still the off-topic forum.)

The fact that someone differens in their interest is no reason to prevent those topics from be posted. I don't play RPG; should RPG topics be prevents? Of course not!

Thanks, all, for the rapid replies.

::looking around furtively::

Does this mean such discussions are now HMP canon?

::ducking::

I'll even take it a step further:

While we all encourage good discussion, this is /not/ to be a place to just criticize products and TPTB and everything else that makes up our game. We all /play/ this game. And /enjoy/ this game. Just downing everything will a) Create a hostize environment, b) Make people, especially newcomers, think we're playing a poor (or at least poorly presented) game, and c) Absolutely /require/ arguments to the contrary, which can accomplish nothing but dissention.

I'm not saying we can't or shouldn't discuss the pros and cons of everything. But if people really dislike so much about it, I kinda think they ought to be playing another game. Or at least complaining about it elsewhere.

Thanks Rick finally found your e-mail and got myself logged-in.

I thought I would reply to this sugject even though it was a while ago.

Like a number of other people I wasn''t very keen on the Jihad or dark ages but since buying Dawn of the Jihad I have began to look at it in a different light. Having looked at a number of the novels of dark ages I don't find much that interests me but ythay could change if they are any dealing with House Davion and Clan Ghost Bear.

To people like myself those who post their views on upcoming Fanpro products are giving us information on how dark ages is progressing and possibly changing allowing us to revise our opinions on the dark ages. So as far as I'm concerned the more posts on upcoming dark ages the better.
