I'm guessing more information is going to be needed to fix this issue (if any issue actually exists). Are you certain the person for whom the message was intended did not receive the message?

hey Tom,
Thanks for posting Private Messaging issue. I also am having trouble with private messaging. Today I typed three Usernames in the Usernames rectangular box of a private message I wanted to send; the HeavyMetalPro.com website said those three Usernames (Hitman, chihawk, Goose) don't exist after I tried sending that private message for its first sending time; (that private message I could only send to Rick Raisley regarding Crazy Strafey topic).

I routinely delete your PMs Chip, so you and all your alter egos may as well stop as I never read them anyway.

snrdg101206, Alayne Leung, Chip, whoever: You request respect, are unhappy when people call you "Chip", wonder about your posts (deleted and otherwise), and message junk like "30 reasons why BT could perhaps be discontinued". #1 on that list: Toll roads employees can inspect vehicles (some toll roads owners dislike BT because BT promotes violence. Man, I must have missed the research that determined that. Surprisingly, I was just last week on toll roads in Florida, and wasn't stopped once. I can only imagine that my face must be on a poster in every toll booth in the country. Guess I was really lucky. Or maybe just looking older than that picture.

Do you really expect people to take you seriously with posts like this? Requesting that I and moderators read and reply immediately concerning each of the "reasons"? And if we don't do that, and restore equally nonsensical posts, that "when persons, that are just learning BT, come to http://www.HeavyMetalPro.com/forums and see that topic locked, they'll believe that BT officials don't care about expanding BT business and will thus conclude that BT is going out of business to be discontinued soon, and that Rick Raisley and moderators like yourself are each a spy for government)"? As well as a recommendation for "unlocking that topic immediately and unconditionally and permanently and sticking it." Making this drivel a permanent and stickied topic? Really?

Okay, this may be borderline breaking my own Forum rules. I don't like being nasty. I've let you and all your aliases post here for a l-o-n-g time, while other forums have you permanently banned. I've seen where other forum members respond, on occasion, to the "more normal" posts, so have let things be. I figured that I, and many others, can just ignore posts by you, if they don't like them.

But I draw the line with the constant harassment of me and forum moderators. If we see an extremely stupid post, like "30 reasons", it's going to be deleted, or usually, transferred to the Admin area, where mods can see what's being written and why it's being moved, whoever writes it. That should be a hint to cease and desist such posts. I'm "this" far away from deleting and banning you and all your friends. If you don't want that to happen, then please abandon such posts, and post "normal" topics of general interest. If you can't tell the difference, responses to your posts should help you out. If you don't abide by this, then goodbye.

An additional "reason" in yet another PM, requesting "answers" on all 31 points, has earned Alayne Leung a formal Warning.

Rick, first I’m not snrdg101206 Tom nor am I chip. Second, I’m not trying to be rude at all when I post this reply: I didn’t post 30 reasons or 31st reasons or 31 reasons why I’ve theorized that BT could perhaps be discontinued on any forum. I gave you 31 serious heads up reasons, and that’s why I PMed chihawk and then you for advice remedies because I didn’t want HeavyMetalPro.com members becoming discouraged about the future of BT because such discouragement could’ve caused them to quit BT, and yes I want BT products including all out of print BT products (excluding discontinued rules that were omitted to make BT more fair and more playable and more enjoyable), so that BT can be played by billions of residents on Earth. I apologize for not reading your Monday November 13 reply to Tom’s Private Messaging issue topic. I apologize if you thought I was attempting to bother you or chihawk; bothering you two was never my intention. If your definition of a “normal” BT post is currently only or mostly only by the BT rulesbooks thinking (as in “mainstream” BT selective service belief system playing), then ( again not to be rude at all) I recommend that you say so on your forum rules list. Yes, Rick, there are most likely persons that like to expand BT beyond what could perhaps be considered “mainstream” such as playing A Time of War BT playing with fantasy medieval games and science fiction games and other roleplaying game systems in unofficial house games only, etc., but if you only want “mainstream BT topics” on your forums, then (again not to be rude) feel free to add a new rule on your rules list to say that. I won’t continue 31 reasons PMming anymore provided that boh you and chihawk won’t either. And please allow snrdg101206 Tom to post on HeavyMetalPro.com forums; there's no need to ban him for apparent undesired communications I made with you chihawk and you, (Tom emailed me that you're getting ready to ban him). You need not remove the ban on chip because he currently (at least a year perhaps) doesn't want to post on your forums for reasons most probably unrelated to HeavyMetalPro.com (chip emailed me that he wants to get a copymodded (not copyrighted or copylefted) rules for a more elaborated version of chess). Thank you, and third, regarding toll roads, I didn't mean that all toll roads personnel theoretically would ban persons that like BT, just some toll roads personnel theoretically would ban persons that like BT.

No, I don't mean to prevent posts of "out there" ideas or equipment. We've certainly had our share of those, by lots of members over the years. I guess I think that the 31 rules was not required, and to be honest, pretty silly. BattleTech has become less popular these days, I feel, because many younger players aren't all that interested unless it's on a Playstation or Xbox screen, and learning about "rules" is probably the last thing on their minds.

I feel bad about snrdg101206 Tom; I think he just got caught up in all this mess, but (unfortunately) I did as he asked, and deleted his membership as well as his posts. I should have done a bit more research before doing that.

As I've said, I like to allow a fair amount of latitude on the forums, and feel that over the years, I have. My personal feelings about Chip aliases don't really matter that much, and I don't mind that some rather outlandish (to me) ideas are discussed, as long as it causes no problems. And while they may not interest me, many have been responded to by other regular forum members, so I've just let it go, and in general, advise people to just not bother to read posts that they are not interested in, or by posters they are not interested in. There's enough animosity in the world; we don't need to chastise or bully anyone who doesn't think like us (and I apologize if I've done that). But I do not want, personally, to be involved in such things as the "31 reasons", and trust that you realize that and won't be sending me such messages in the future.

Post subject:  Re: Private Messaging issue

I wasn't trying to be silly when I PMed those 31 reasons; I was trying to give you a heads up about what could perhaps happen to BT, and I wanted your input as to how to remedy those 31 possible types of events so that BT may continue to exist in a progressive manner as per that Total Warfare declaration.

You might want to email snrdg101206 Tom to encourage him to return to http://www.HeavyMetalPro.com/forums (he probably will return if you email him). I can PM you his email address if you don't know his email address.

I don’t believe any of you have chastised or bullied any of us, (I think you suffer from paranoia, though, given that you've been deleting or locking topics that can improve BT); no apology needed. I assure you I won't be sending you or posting messages about those 31 "reasons" anymore.

Post subject:  Re: Private Messaging issue

Seems PM is saving messages and not sending them. I changed my email to my account and can't log in as "Highlander" anymore. I've PM/emailed rick to unlock/reset account but no luck.

Can someone help?

Highlander

There can be only ONE

Rick's the only one that can help with that...but it is a solvable issue once he knows about it. I would suspect he'll be along shortly.

I never got an email from Highlander that I can recall. I am remiss in not checking PMs often enough. I've PM'd him information to hopefully get into his original account. I've had not problem sending or receiving PMs, and have received PMs from some who way they aren't being sent, so don't know that there's a problem there.

I'm guessing PMs say they're in the "outbox" until they're read.
