Not sure if this is where Ishould go about posting this, or if it should have been in the battletech board. I have been noticing a huge number of [OT] posts lately. Perhaps it would be a good idea to set up an Off Topic Forum/Thread where all these could go. Just a suggestion, and of course I don't know either how much work this will take or if it will induce financial problems? Also sorry if this is in the wrong part of the forum, thanks.

Off topic forums have been suggested before, but I'm against them. I have limited time to devote to the forum, as well as my other duties, and don't have the time to police such a forum. Plus, I have very little interest in one myself; when I'm here, I'd like to discuss BattleTech. If I want off-topic, I'll go elsewhere.

Actually...doing a little self-promotion here...quite a few HMP regulars haunt NSS for the OT flavor. Figure that HMP is the workplace, and NSS is the bar outside, on the corner.

Where everybody knows your name, right? I had meant to plug your site for that, but forgot until later. ;-)

Mordel's also has an "off topic" forum...and for "regulars" has a place called "The Saloon" for more "mature" subjects.

You might want to follow Dans lead on NSS and have a special Moderator(s) just for the off topic board ( and No I am not ready yet) it seems to work well there.

Ok, I understand. Just figured with the Btech board getting so OT lately anyhow...

Uh, lemme try to explain this in a way to make those understand.

If Rick selects somebody to be a moderator in an off topic forum, Rick still has to moderate the forum to make sure that nothing inappropriate shows up down there. Even if his name doesn't show up in that forum, he still has control over it due to him being the admin. It would be too much of a headache to do that, so let's just let it rest and say "no" to an off topic forum.

Exactly! That's why the phrase is "NO Off Topic". ;-)
