Rick is there a reader for this type of BBS, so those that can't tie up the phone lines can use instead?

I have no idea. There are programs that can cache a web site for off-line viewing, but I'm not sure how that might apply to forums.

I went directly to phpbb forum and ask the same question, was curious to know if people could download my forum and make a copy of it..

Their answer was no, example: config.php is an invisible file and that file contain the info for where to look at the db where all the post are store, whitout it, you end up with nothing and because you do not dowload the actual MySQL, then you end up only with the Structure of the forum, not the actual post...

I try myself with different offline downloader and you end up with a lot of file starting with index.... and some code attach to it..

so you are out of luck, ...
