Got bored today and came up with this long range fighter. Although 15 tons heavier than the Gunslinger and lacks its jump jets, the Boudica's profile is identical to the Gunslingers.

There is nothing wrong with it, but it doesn't really stand out to me. You have an XL with lots of ammo. Heat management isn't horrible, but it will run fairly hot if you start using the ammo weapons with the PPCs.

It does excel at extreme ranges where only the Ultras and ER ATMs can hit, but do you plan to stay on the edge of battle? I can see it being used by my secondline Clan forces, but I don't see it standing out compared to other long ranged biased mechs like the Imp C, or Bane/Kracken.

Not a bad design, but not one that grabs me.

I actually thought it would be a regular mech. I would start firing with the UAC-2's and ER ATM's. Once the opposing mech got closer, I would then switch to the medium ranged ATM's and ERPPC's. If the battle got closer, I would then switch to the short range ATM's and ERPPC's...at least that is what I envision.

I would rather have an Imp C without the XL as a standard assault, but that's just me.

A: Mauler/Daboku :P

Arm mounted energy weapons (PPCs vs Large Lasers), 4 x class 2 Autocannons - two in each torso (Ultra 2s v standard AC 2's) and missiles in each torso (ATM's vs LRMs).

The obvious difference is the energy weapons are larger and the reduced number of missile tubes.

I like it :).

You can always drop the ERPPCs for ERLL with extra DHS, or LPLs for the drop in heat. I would probably do one or the other for my own use, depending on how the crits worked out best. You can still plink at range, and have the spare heat capacity to combine fire with greater frequency. ERLLs give another extreme range weapon, while still working up close. The LPLs give up token range, but get improved accuracy for it. I really think the average damage per turn would stay fairly close to the original while upping the crit chances.

I vote for going more Mauler like.
