This probally isnt the place to be posting this but having distanced myself from the monster called
Battletech I figured folks might be interested in what Ive been up to. First off, I sold most of my
unpainted Btech figs. Didnt see them getting built soon and I needed the funds for other projects.
Second, dusted off the Galactic game I had been working on and off for years it seems. Started to
put together the rules for it, based on the quick-play stuff from Catalyst and a few other systems.
Basically took what I liked and worked well and started compiling. Then came the CAD models for the
game. The plan being to release spacecraft from 4 factions of the Galactic universe and see how they
do in the marketplace. If its positive, then there would be 4 more factions released and after that,
the ground units of those groups would be released. Im being slow about doing this on purpose :)
The premise behind the game is that Earth does not exist, but many of the nations, empires and
groups do in one form or another. Faster than light travel doesnt exist either but a means of
natural wormholes and artificially created ones do exist. This provides a very fluid means of
transportation and should prove interesting in the game mechanics. I will post a bit more as I
get closer to releasing the minis and the free rule set. Thanks to those who have tossed constructive
crtisism at the project and to the guys at FPG who have decals ready once the minis are available.

A bit of a change since I last posted. The ship minis will now be done in Fleet Scale. This allows me to do a lot more ships for less $$. And its always good for me when its less $$

Will start off with the Ala-Skan Commonwealth.

Would love too, my problem is actually being able to get there. DragonCon is only 50 miles away but I wont even be able to go to that :(

As another update, I received the approval pewter castings yesterday. Nothing but good schtuff on these so the production pieces should just as good. The basic rules are now 99% complete and we are in the process of doing the record sheets. Last thing on the list are the stands/bases for the minis and those I received notification that they are in the mail this morning.

Just as an FYI, we have also started on the rules for Galactic: Conflict in the Stars-Empires. I dont want to say this is a RISK rip-off, but is based in part on it. One thing is for sure, the map is bigger, 34 x 22. Depending on how you want to play out the battles, the plan is to be either you battle for systems RISK/Diplomacy style or you can do ship on ship battle per the basic G:CitS rules.

I have chatted with the gents over there. Not planning on too big yet, but it never hurts to be ready with it though. IronWinds is going to be casting these for us and they will be sold off of their website. Rules will be there also.

Hiya, been a bit since the last update. I have my master mold now and
IWM has all the ships and aero-fighters of the first release molds done.
We have been talking about basing and I am not going to do the big
buzz-saw style base. Honestly, its bigger that almost all the ships and
would bump up prices higher than I want. So I came up with an insert/
stand that has a socket on top for the mini to set down into and then a
tab on the bottom to fit into generic hex bases of either pewter or
plastic that are on the market. Each ship mini would have the stand/
insert included with it.

Image

Speaking of generic. While working on graphics for the rules, came up
with another group to work into the game. They are called the Generis
League and are made up of a very loose grouping of systems. Here are
their ships and will be available on Shapeways soon.

General Class Battleship
Image

Broad Class Fleet Carrier
Image

Standard Class Strike Cruiser
Image

Common Class Gunship
Image

Basic Class Fleet Transport
Image

Also finished up the Nippon Hegemony ships and I am trying to push ahead
so they would be available after the first of the year along with the Native
American based faction.

Shimakaze Strike Cruiser
Image

Fubuki Class Destroyer
Image

Also did some updating to one of the 'bug' races, the Vindric
Vindric Battler
Image

Vindric Destroyer
Image

Vindric Mothership

The game is as the subject line says, Galactic: Conflict in the Stars or GCS. A fleetscale tactical space game that will have your basic and advanced rules. The basic ones are very nice shoot'em up. GCS will tie into Galactic: Ground Wars which is being just started on.GGW will be 6mm so it can use minis from other popular gaming systems if you want. And mecha wont be king in this one. My plans when those are done, is for Galactic: Dreams of Empire. It is along the lines of RISK on steroids :)

Thanks Medron for addressing this. Just as an FYI, it looks as if we will be going with a scale of 3mm.

Just an FYI...because of more important casting requests at IWM, it looks like the first release of the Galactic minis will be right after the first of the year. :bigcry: So hopefully this will be it.

Another FYI...another few weeks and it should all be released :exclamation:
Except for a few of the aero-fighters, the minis are all painted and just waiting for me to get pics of them for IWM's website.

Stay tuned...

I'm keeping my fingers crossed for ya. Like I said before, it looks good, and the basic idea makes sense and looks fun, which is more then I can say about quite a few games that make it to the shelves.

Thanks...and our fingers are crossed too.

The fun part now is going to be making the whole background come together. And doing the preliminary website that is needed now because minis are available on two websites and decals on another. Hopefully I can get my act together this weekend and get something usable made.
