Looking for some tips on how to improve these:

For the yellow one, I was thinking of some patches of green and redish-brown splashed around it. On the other mech, my wife calls it the Birdman of Alcatraz after we got done painting it, I was thinking of some black and maybe red markings for unit type etc...basically looking for ideas.

I think the colors are fine. all you need to do is weather them.

drybrush some exposed metal where the "paint" is "peeling" from use

Add some mudding effect because these are COMBAT machines

and finally hit it with some ink to add depth (I like quick shade)

Did i mention I REALLY LIKE Quickshade?

I'm working on a 2nd sword of light unit for me that is pretty much red metallic testors modlemaster as a primer, some watered-down GW tinbitz for the "joints" and "mechanicals aspects". Tamiama metallic blue for the canopy glass, and then Quickshade the mini. VERY quick paintjob and it looks good.

It's on hold because of a side project for a friend, but eventually just under half of my innersphere minis will be painted in this way. The other innersphere units will be in a generic tan desert that could be the 4th daneb or any of a dozen "desert" units.

Not entirely sure what to do the clan minis in...

Thanks! I have book marked the links. I will give them a better look over once I get back home, well once I get mid-tour leave and stuff...

that quickshade stuff is like 25-35 bux, but i've done about 20 mechs and close to fifty fantasy miniatures with it. In my opinion it has already paid for itself and i've got more than 2/3's of the container left!

This was an earlier quickshade mech. Instead of the red metalic testors spray, I used black testors as a prime and drybrushed the red metalic onto it. Eventually I plan on doing the base details, probably when i have the rest of the regiment, (or at the LEAST a battalion worth) done.

there's a few others I've uploaded to the battletech folder, feel free to look around (its a public album) I just made the folder today. When I find my camera I plan to post more. (cameraphone camera SUCKS)
