Hello Rick,

Would it be possible that we might see an update to the unit lists with the most up to date TRO's for the Heavy Metal Programs? I've recently started to see more of a resurgence of Battletech of recently (namely with finding more and more groups willing to give it a shot). However it looks like many of the new groups (and tournament rules) appear to be focusing on the Jihad era tech (and moving towards dark age). With that in mind, would it be possible to see an update to Heavy Metal Pro, Vee, and Lite to include the up to Jihad era TRO's? It might be helpful bringing new players to the game as well as make it easier for quicker game setup.

Thank you,
FrozenIceman

You'll find a lot, if not all, of the newer and Jihad era designs on PRI, at http://www.pryderockindustries.com/dl_featured.php#HMP.

These are the HMP files, of course, which can then print out the TROs and Record Sheets you're after, hopefully.

I did not realize that there was a 3rd party that put out program updates. That is excellent! I'll play with them later tonight. Would it be possible to provide a more direct link to their website in the file center to each set of their updates (I do see it in the links section), or better yet try reach out and see if they would allow the of their work into an official program update? This would definitely reduce the hunting for new and old users alike to stay current with the times.

Thank you,
FrozenIceman

Just to clarify, these are not program updates; they're data files for many TROs and designs that are more recent, and not included in the HM programs. A link to PRI is shown on the Links page of the HMP web site; PRI has always been a great resource for all things BattleTech. Also, using custom weapons & equipment, pretty much any design can be made, and users have made custom weapon updates which include just about everything, and are available to download and automatically update here: http://www.heavymetalpro.com/DataFiles. ... tomWeapons

Hello Rick,

I apologize, that is what I meant. The PRI link provided in your above post also links to the custom equipment updates. I think there would be a benefit if you had a downloadable executable (that included all of the unit sheets that PRI has done, if they allow it), perhaps included in the program updates to increase the visibility of their use. It takes quite a bit of work downloading each TRO, dropping it in the right place and testing it, I can see less technically minded individuals struggling especially with the way the files are zipped from PRI (You need to copy the contents of each TRO folder into the main unit directory, just copying the TRO folder to match the other TRO folder's isn't immediately searchable from the top menu, and it looks like the TRO folders in HMP are just for reference) this took some time to figure out and replicate for the 60+ PRI folder and sub folder downloads and zips (and to determine which TRO's were not already included in the Heavy Metal programs).

I did get the PRI sheets working and they do work well and am aware that some of the TRO's are not build able per their individual file notes.

Thank you,
FrozenIceman

I'm glad you find some use in the files.

I have never placed things into one big file because...as it began...I was just doing one or two TROs. Then it ballooned a bit into more and more files and such.

I may decide to update into one big file, but I have honestly not been doing a lot of updating at P.R.I. lately.

I have moved onto other passions and mainly keep P.R.I. online to help other people who want to enjoy BattleTech as I did when I first decided to create the page. :)

And Rick can use any files I've created or published for the HeavyMetal programs however he wants. :)

Hello Medron,

Thank you for all of your hard work assembling TRO plugins for Heavy Metal Pro. Your work is much appreciated and the group I am part of now is most definitely leveraging your work to a significant amount! I sent an email a few days ago asking about TRO 3085 and in reference to light infantry (but not sure if it went through), details below.

Hello Rick,

After going through Medron's files I believe there may be one element that would be worth adding into HM lite, specifically TRO 3085 for Heavy Metal Lite. Medron has done a fantastic job generating the record data for all of the Mechs, Battle Armor, Vehicles, and Aerospace fighters but I recently had a request to look into the Tau Zombie (Domini) infantry. After doing some digging it looks like 3085 did a considerable improvement/evaluation/update of the foot infantry and I think it would go a long way to using them in combined arms games (namely so that everyone isn't just using jump infantry as well as add a bit more flair). I am not completely sure how one might create an update file for it as it isn't in the HM Lite design tab.

Thank you,
FrozenIceman
