I have to give credit to Highball for his Aero TRO starting my thinking in this direction, and Master Arminas' "How it should have been" Star League Warship redesigns making me think more about logistics and operating endurance.
This is my take on a possible post-Civil War update to the
Durendal-class DD.

==Overview:==
With the end of the Civil War, the FedSuns Navy found itself in the position
of having to rebuild and expand while working from a very limited budget.
The prototype Durendal had been was a troubled project, experiencing many
technical problems that kept the ship from ever being launched. When it was
destroyed by a Katrina-loyalist strike team, the design team saw it as an
opportunity to save the design.
==Capabilities:==
Starting from scratch, the team drastically reduced cost and simplified the
design by removing the advanced L-F battery and HPG that were causing much of
the trouble. An array of ten NAC-25 autocannon provided the main firepower,
supported by batteries of naval lasers, ppc's and missiles. An extensive set
of point defense weapons round out the weapons.
A full wing of aerospace fighters and a company of battle-armored marines
help protect the ship, and there are two docking collars. A new engine array
gives a maximum thrust of 3 g's.
==Deployment==
Current naval procurement plans are calling for the construction of twenty
Durendal-class Destroyers. Two or three will be deployed with each major
battle group, and others will be on independent operations.
